I vote for Uncas. If his life had been saved then Alice and even Magua's fate might have been different.

I had to vote for Uncas too. I think that Magua would have died either way, whether Uncas lived or not, but at least if he had lived, then Uncas and Alice would be together.

I voted for Uncas for many reasons. #1 A man that good looking should not be wasted, #2 If he lived than Alice may have lived as well, #3 Poor Ching. mourning his sons death. I don't know about any of you but I never want to mourn my childrens death.

I voted for Colonel Munro just because I can't stand to see a good Scotsman get wasted...although I do admit had he lived Hawkeye and Cora probably wouldn't have had as easy a time with their romance. However, I was always sad that Cora lost both her father and her sister...I hold family in high regard and couldn't imagine facing the world with no blood kin left...Plus Colonel Munro would have had great war stories too, and what a fantastic accent...

"Of Course Gollum deserves death! And there are many dead who deserve life--can you give it to them?" More or less a quote of Gandalf to Frodo in the Lord of the Rings. It sets the stage that here, I could raise up only one, not the many.

I do see an advantage snatching one main character, since I chose Alexandra. Since she would need comfort in her widowhood, things might work out well in time. (Since I got married in 1992, wouldn't I be footloose and fancy free in 1757?) How naughty of me!

We become what we think about.

Hmmm...a lot of people made very good points to who they would want to live. Although, I had to go with Uncas. It just seems so unfair to me that a man who risks his life for the woman he loves, ends up dying in the process. I thought that was the most brave action in the movie. And as someone already stated, if Uncas would have lived it would have changed Alice and Magua's
fate. Plus, I think that Alice and Uncas would have ended up together and I would have liked to see that happen. :)

I would have to pick Uncas, because anyone who is that beautiful deserves to live. I believe when I say this, i'm speaking for many women out there. Besides, I know i'm not the only one that was left craving for more Uncas flesh.... (yum-yum)

Like so many other people, I would choose Uncas, mostly because him and Chingachgook are the last of their kind, and....well, that's a sad thing! =(

Hello UncasGrl,
That is bound to make people go rosy! Although I think I'd have to agree with you...but what I don't get is why didn't Alice do something? Don't give me that "prim and proper" excuse 'cause if it had been me I would have done something. She could have ousted the guard, taken a gun and shot Magua in the back *OR* she could have ran in front of Uncas and refused to move *OR* my favorite and personal choice: Rush Magua and pushed him off the edge of the mountain.

If you go to the upper right hand of the screen and click on "Members" you'll see a list of all of the registered users on the board. There is a default hierarchy based on the number of posts each user has made that determines the # and color of stars as well as your title. Here's the basic rundown:

# of posts: Title: # and color of stars:
0-9 Lost in the Wilderness 0
10-49 Pathfinder 1 Green
50-99 Pioneer 2 Aqua
100-299 Colonial Settler 3 Blue
300-499 Colonial Militia 4 Purple
500-999 Deerslayer 5 Red
1000+ ? 6 Gold

Moderators have an extra star and are colored Gray. Administrators have an extra star and are colored Gold. Custom titles may be passed to Rich for approval and implementation.

I seriously need to stop coming into this website during the early hours, cause I always forget to log on. I guess my brain doesn't fully function during the early am hours. Anyway, I posted the above comment.... Now i'm going to sleep since I can't think straight.

I had to vote for Duncan. At the beginning of the movie, I couldn't care less what happend to him, but there at the end, he was so brave. It was sad. I think he saw that that's what Cora wanted so dying to save the one she loved was his final act of love. Sigh. Of course, keeping Uncas around wouldn't be too bad either. I wouldn't mind a peice of Uncas flesh myself.

Me too. I first I despised him for sacrificing so many frontier people for the sake of military standing. Even with that said I hate seeing man take lives especially when they were never intended to do so.
