If Uncas died trying to save you and you were in Alice's situation, would you have jumped? I think that I would have. Not as a way to escape from Magua, but to follow Uncas. I would have been in love with Uncas for the way he kept me safe, cared for me, and eventually gave his life for me. I would jumpe to be with him in death. Plus, my father would be dead, and I didn't know the whereabouts of Cora. I would have jumped. Would you?

That's really difficult for me to say. I don't know if I'd have the courage to jump, but then again maybe fear of what Magua might do would be a greater fear than jumping. But still, I really have no idea.  |

To be honest, in a way I would want to jump to join Uncas. On the other hand, if I was Alice I would have waited at least a day or two cause the same way Uncas found his way to her is the same way Hawkeye and Chingachgook would have found her also.  Besides, she saw that Cora was left alive and had walked away with Hawkeye in the village. Alice should have used some common sense and not cut her life short. I don't think Uncas went through all of that, and lost his life over it so she could just give up so easily and jump off the cliff.  |

I would have definetly jumped!!! If I would've loved Uncas like Alice did I couldn't do anything else except to jump off the cliff to join him, to stay with him forever in death!!! |

I think that Rainhair expressed a valid point about Alice fearing what Magua might do to her. After all, Alice saw Maj. Duncan Heyward roasted alive! In combination with her grief over Uncas, jumping might have seemed the least bad thing to do. |

Mmm I think I would have jumped, just thinking of a life with Magua makes me miserable and lets be realistic: is a fast way to end with your suffering!
On the other hand, I will be commiting suicide, therefore I will be condemned and would not be allowed to have a place near Uncas in the afterlife, you know -together forever-!...hmmm I maybe if I wait for A)Hawkeye and Chingy to rescue me or B) Magua to kill me somehow, somewhere... would be better.
Just my thoughts. |
