Why do you refer to Pocahontas as a myth? Or is it the way that she is portrayed that you take exception to??? Just wondering.

We are talking about FICTION not an historical documentary, as besides I thought that debate about political and historical issues belonged in another section of this message board. Has anybody here seen the trailer? The images are very beautiful!! |

Here is some more info by a person who was in the movie.

There is violence depicted, though I don't know how graphic it will be on the screen. All the matchlocks were real except for a couple of rubber ones the real stunt guys carried. John Buck made some, if not all, the muskets and calivers that were used. There were also plenty of swords used. There were a lot of broadswords with various styles of hilts. In one scene, I was tapped to play one of the hoity toity gentlemen who would not work. they issued me a neat little swept hilt rapier and dagger for that one. The actor who played John Smiths' henchman/confidant carried a little cuttoe, or cutlass. Farrell, as Smith, carried the cage hilt that you saw. though the historical record hints that the actual John Smith favored a cuttoe. The illustrations in some of his writings show it looking like a scmiter (sp?) with a clip point and a very curved blade. Didn't see that on the set though. As for too many clothes on the Indians, yes and no. As Mr. Galban can attest, there was a big push to hire as many Native American extras as possible. Some of those agreed to dress authentically in just the front apron and some did not.
From the looks of this, it seems to be one of the more accurate portrayals of a little known period. As to whether or not some of the things acutally happened, well, how much of LOTM actually happened as shown. |

Wes said he spent a lot of time dragging Colin Farrell through the woods in this movie. From what little I have read about Mr. Farrell, he NEEDS the "attitude adjustment" a little "butt kicking" would bring!  LOL

I saw the trailer and it looks to be a very good movie. I will just have to wait for it to come to PPV since I don't go to the theaters very often.

Thanks for the link - the trailer is awesome & I am really looking forward to the release of this movie!
Like Kaylynn, I don't often go to the movies - mainly because of the fact that a lot of what Hollywood puts out these days isn't worth the price of the movie ticket, IMHO - but I will definitely go see this one! It will be great to see Wes on the big screen again! |
