We're getting ready to vote on which events that Schroth's NY Company of Rangers will participate in next season. Has the date for Newtown Battlefield been decided? Thanks!

Kurt, the date is not set in stone just yet, as we are in negotiations with the New York State Parks Department, but the annual re-enactment of the Battle of Newtown is usually held the last weekend in August. In 2005, that would be August 27 and 28.

The event is presented by the Chemung Valley Living History Center, which I am a member of. Although the website has not yet been updated with the schedule for next year, you can keep an eye on www.chemungvalley.org Hopefully soon after the first of the year new information will be available.

There is also talk that an 18th century Weekend that is not open to the public may be held at the Indian Village at Newtown, the 1st weekend in August. But, again... this is not definite yet.

I'll try to keep you posted as I find out more.
