Keep in mind that I WAS NOT at the last Gathering so may have missed something that occurred. I love the idea of the competitions for rifles, etc. Is there any area that the women of the group can have a competition? If we put our heads together I bet we can think of something!

Oh Dear Lovely Ellen,

I'll have you know that there was a girl competing in the tomahawk throw, it was I, AND I came in second place. I was very comfortably in the lead UNTIL the charming, ever-so-handsome, hearthrob, James Dean-lookin' cherub of a young man, NATHAN - STOLE the win right out from under me (The Brandy-Grubbin' Scank!) with the most Hail Mary throw you ever saw!!!

So Ellen, just pick yer weapon and start practicing!!!

I was playing around with my tomahawk in the back yard last weekend when my 5' tall, 97 lb., "Martha Stewart" groupie daughter arrived and wanted to try throwing it. After a dozen or so throws she began to stick the hawk and after 1/2 hour was throwing very well. She thinks the Gathering is a great idea, loves the competition, and wants to come next year! The moral of the story? Anybody can do well at the competition if they just bother to try.

PS: Martha Stewart is a touchy subject just now.

Well guys!!!! Imagine my surprise at this response. I had thought the competition would be something along the lines of shucking corn, baking bread, weaving, etc. Much to my dismay I now realize I had been rather sexist and narrow in my thoughts.

I will be talking to my hubby and shopping for a weapon of choice to learn to throw. That may be very interesting. Any thoughts of contest to see who can chop through a log the fastest or? Anyway, I will keep thinking. Thank you very much Diana for widening my horizions. The sky is the limit..............

Hey Ellen!

Primarily the Games are for fun, though, of course, competition can get in the way!!!

We had women in the shooting & 'hawk throw [as Diana so modestly pointed out ], two classes for the races ...

In the upcoming year, if we do go ahead with a full-blown, all day colonial-themed day of Mohican Games, more events will more than likely be added ... maybe we'll get to your basket weaving yet! And even the guys can try their luck in that one! Then, of course, there's the competitition for "The Kiss" ... hmmmm ... I think we'll opt to allow both sexes in that one!

Hmmm....basket weaving, eh? Methinks I could win that one with both arms tied securely behind my back in one of those very, very long-sleeved white jackets!

We could also, of course, have a competition for the person with the most body mass turned black and blue.....or....greatest numbers of blisters? Or...name that loincloth? Or...ok...I'll stop now!

Oh Rich....

Thank God you are thinking of allowing BOTH sexes to join in on the Kissing comp.... I feel much better now. However, Everyone has already seen Marc's better side... Going to have to ponder on this one more
