Mohicanlanders like myself, who are of a certain age, will perhaps recall being glued to the "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" back in the early sixties when the Scarecrow of Romney Marsh was featured.

There were only three episodes, though in my memory it seems like more. It introduced us to Patrick McGoohan, who later brought us the most intelligent spy show on TV, Secret Agent and the unique Prisoner series.

There apparently was a movie cobbled together from the series, and a VHS tape which I gather was trimmed down, and hasn't been available for years.

The good news is that Disney is releasing a DVD of Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow on August 3.

Oh, yes! As a teen, I fell madly in love with the dashing Mr. McGoohan in the "Scarecrow" series! Loved it!

OoooH! Dr. Christopher Syn!!! I love this guy!

Did you also know that there was a movie made in the 1930's called DOCTOR SYN? It is based on the final of the 7 books by Russell Thorndyke. Frankly, my favorites are books number 2 and 7. Unfortunately, these are hard to get a hold of. I did manage it though.

It is ABOUT TIME Disney issued this one.

There are some web sites out there. Can't get my hands on them at the moment. However, you may find some things if you look up (TOWN OF)Rye, England. Folks there are quite proud to be known as the home of this guy.
