What are your fave scenes..or most unforgettable ones..or the oens you wished were made shorter???? Here goes..

Most heart-warming scene-- the scene at cameron's cabin where chingackook was smiling contently when Alexandria was commenting on Uncas settling down.. you could see the pride and joy in his eyes..

Most should-be-made-shorter scene-definitely the battle scene when they were sneaking across the lake to the fort.

Most unforgettable scene-- the one where the three men were running up the mountain when cora and alice were captured by the huron..the background music..and the expressions of Hawkeye and Uncas..classic

Most romantic scene-- i think most will diagree with me..but i totaally digged the scene at the falls when Uncas pulled Alice back and held her!

Most heart-wrenching scene-- the bodies of alice and uncas at the bottom of the cliff..a tragic end to the subtly-played romance

most passionate scene--The Kiss..need i say more..

most exciting scene-- the canoes

fave scene of all--- uncas smouldering at alice at the riverwalk scene..

What 'bout u guys???

Well, your pics were pretty good, but I do have a few changes in my thinking. Here goes.

Most heart-warming scene--"I will find you", could ask for anything more? All girls would love that to be said them.

Most should-be-made-shorter scene--I'd have to say the Burial Ground. Kinda long, for me that is.Perhaps I just couldn't wait to see more of Uncas and Alice.

Most unforgetable scene--The Cliffs, definately. The music to go in the background, and then the whole Uncas and Alice thing...MAN, it's awesome.

Most romantic scene--I agree with you for sure on this one. When Uncas pulls Alice back and holds her.Although it would have been even greater if MM didn't cut out that extra love scene of those two.

Most heart-wrenching scene--When Uncas dies! (Who cares about Alice-just kidding)

Most passionate scene--The Kiss, definatley!!!

Most exciting scene--The massacre.

There are so many other scenes that I love, such as when Hawkeye saves Cora from that Huron, the waterfalls(both of them),the Huron village when Magua takes Alice and then Uncas looks to his father, the cliffs, the hospital scene where Cora treats Uncas, well, just the whole movie!!! AS for my favorite people:
1. Uncas
2. Magua
3. Cora
4. Hawkeye
5. Alice
And so forth...
What can I say, I love the movie(not to mention the guys). It's toatlly awesome!!!And I think everybody else will agree!(With loving the movie, that is)

eh... i know that in the interests of drama and cinematography, this was impossible, but... wasn't uncas a little... stupid?
i mean, yea, let's go throw ourselves at a huron war party and see if we survive why don't we?
i mean, he could have have tracked them and taken alice at the most opportune moment, couldn't he have? no, he has to throw himself at the enemy, assembled in full and armed to the teeth, bullets whistling by.
i mean, in the book at least magua was trying to kill her (cora), so it was then or never.
but now...?

I agree..whenever it comes to that part.i'm like "WAIT FOR YOUR FATHER AND BROTHER!" But well..this is Hollywood.. he wouldn't have died if he had help from his father and brother..and the whole story won't be as tragic as it is..still though i wishes he lived.. the movie wouldn't be the same without that double death at the end

You know Ithiliana, my husband and I both said the same thing: How foolish of him to run after her on his own, without a real plan for rescuing her from dozens of armed warriors.
But I guess it comes down to this... Love often makes you do foolish things; it takes away your common sense and highly blurs your vision of things. In this pivotal moment, the otherwise calm and steady character of Uncas panicked and could think of nothing else but to rush after Alice. Had the the captive he was trying to rescue been anyone else, I feel he would have been far more sensible in his actions, as he has shown he has been until then. The fact that the person he was in love with was in danger made him act before thinking; thus sacrificing all.
Just a thought :)

that is, as a matter of fact, an excellent point. but wouldn't you agree that hawkeye also loved cora as much, if not more? (ok, i know there are ppl out there who disagree with me, but still. he loved her :)and yet he ditched her at the waterfall, cuz he realized it was hopeless. huron war party vs. three mohicans and a british officer with no powder = 4 very dead protagonists. so the conclusion is... hawkeye was just more level-headed? or uncas's mohican blood just hit the boiling point? or hollywood just went trigger... er... tomahawk happy?

Hm..Vee's pt made sense..but I don't really think Uncas panicked or his mohican blood hit boiling point. He didn't look panicky at all. He was determined and anxious to get to alice as soon as possible. that aprt i definitely agree!) Knowing Uncas, he might have thought that Alice with her kind of personality ( we all know what she is like!)would be terrified more than others to be placed in that situation..she's alone for the first time..no sister..no cora..and that I think sorta helped in prompting himself to save her without wasting any time..don't really think Hawkeye was more level-headed..but the person he is most interested in saving is cora..and cora is of a different make comapred to alice..he knows she can survive. oh boy..i hope i make sense..
and I think it's Hollywood being trigger and tomahawk happy.... you know how their heroes and heroines can duck multiple blows and bullets while the poor lessen knowns are felled with just one shot or punch..

Most heart-warming scene-- at cameron's cabin when Uncas and Hawkeye are playing lacrosse like a bunch of kids. "The calm before the storm."
Most unforgettable scene-- seeing poor Duncan burning in the fires, giving his life so that Cora could be happy with Hawkeye.
Most romantic scene-- "the kiss"
Most heart-wrenching scene-- watching Uncas going over the cliffs
Most exciting scene-- the first massacre scene
Favorite scene--behind the falls--Uncas, "Get back!" and Hawkeye, "No matter what it takes, I will find you."

What you give of yourself is priceless.

I would agree that Hawkeye loved Cora just as much; the two brothers, however, were very different people and can't really be compared in their reactions to events.
Hawkeye was more daring and outspoken from the start. He dared to approach Cora when he was drawn to her, where as Uncas never openly revealed his attraction to Alice. Hawkeye pursued Cora, Uncas only wished for Alice from afar.
Uncas did ultimately sacrifice himself for Alice, but Hawkeye in turn had offered himself to the Sachem in order to spare Cora's life. Both brothers' hearts were overcome with feelings of love. The way they went about them was different.
I don't know if I would call Hawkeye more level-headed, but I would say that he approached situations differently than Uncas. He made his move for the things he wanted and wasn't intimidated from going after anything. Uncas never dared to romantically go after Alice or to make plans to be with her. In that crucial moment for her safety he acted on impulse risking everything to run after her.
Of course everyone in love doesn't react the same way, and I like what you said L.H. 3087 about how it also moved him to be quick in his actions the thought of her alone and in danger for the first time. She was obviously a very weak and vulnerable person and he was definitely moved by her situation. It tore him up to see her despair and he could literally not wait for the others. A sensitive and impulsive man he was. SIGH!!!

This is cool...made me think back on the movie which I actually haven't watched in MONTHS...believe that or not!!!

Most exciting scene: The massacre after they're leaving the fort with Hawkeye searching desperately for Cora
Most passionate scene: The kiss and everything that leads up to it, including that long gaze at each other before he grabs her hand and leads her away...
Most romantic scene: When Hawkeye hugs Cora through the bars of the prsion cell.
Most heart-wrenching scene: When Cora yells to Hawkeye "Did you see my father?" and he looks at her with sadness in his eyes and says "From a distance." And then when Cora screams and looks away after Alice casts herself off the mountain.

See this face? This is the face of a woman on the edge.

Well said Vee.. :) Especially about the comparison between the way Hawkeye and Uncas approached situations and chasing the woman they love..agree on everything you said..
If you're talking about love, I believe Duncan also loved Cora very much in his own way..he did die for her..even though he was so jealous of Hawkeye through out..he did bargain to switch himself for Hawkeye..he knew Cora would be happier with Hawkeye..I thought that was really gracious of him.

In terms of Hawkeye, he wanted to be with Cora..and was going to get her or be with her no matter what..that was his main aim I feel... but for Uncas...I think his main aim through out the entire movie was just to be protect Alice..be there for her..keep her safe no matter what...yes..he longed and yearned to be with her (It's hard not to think so with all that loaded gazes and stares!)..but I think he dared not show his affection as obviously as Hawkeye because he was aware how young and inexperienced Alice was..and did not want to scare her with any his feelings...I think he was content with whatever Alice returned in her feelings for him..contented and satisfied enough to risk and lose his life for her
