A good lad, and one who his parents should be proud of. Fifteen huh? That makes him historically old enough to 'take the King's shilling', and he should be big enough for the King's Musket and broadsword...

Yes, Duncan, but many sites have a requirement that one be sixteen before they can shoulder a musket/rifle and take their place in a firing line, whether they fire or not. Some insurance carriers are requiring the same thing.
This lad is a great role model, however, to the younger set and is a welcome addition to our hobby.......for sure. |

You are right, Seamus. I was just being my usual historical-hysterical self. The rules I set forth for my unit, limits the age to seventeen and only if his parent/legal guardian is in the battle with him. Otherwise it is eighteen for soldiers, and only after they are vetted by the group.
