The differences are obvious - the old WWWboard format is vastly different from that which we use now. But, when we made the transition, a year & a half ago, we tried to keep some of the familiar around ... we brought along the same background, the music ... even the logo, though it still says "WWWBoard" ... and, the "This Day in History" applet ... not to mention many of the people, thankfully.

Now, we see "This Day in History" has apparently vanished. You might remember, several months ago, A&E/History Channel redid their link process to products, etc. At that time, though we were able to still retrieve the "This Day in History" applet, the link stopped working - you could no longer click on it to get the complete story. Now, it would appear, the whole shebang is gone ... at least for now. We are just left with a big "History Channel" link/banner up top of the board.

That's not my doing ...

Anyway, me no like. And, I'll probably change that over the weekend. To what? I have no idea at the moment, maybe just remove it all together. Not sure.

If you have any comments/ideas, let me know ....

It is rather a big, unattractive nothing, isn't it? And I was thinking: "What is Rich thinking?"

My vote... take it right off of there. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas for replacing it. Too early in the morning... not enough coffee yet!

What are y'all talking about? Mine looks the same as it always did. The picture and caption are there, but the note when I tried to use the link says it has "expired."
(No coffee at all yet this morning...)

I liked the idea of "this day in history" so much that I put it on our website as well. Ours looks like the above and I think it's ugly. I'll be taking it off for sure. The confusing thing is that the History Channel website still has "this day in history" segments - our url link to the old west one works.

OH, that looks much better!

Here's a thought:
Maybe an Amazon.com link to remind all of us that whenever someone talks about a book or a video we are interested in, to reach Amazon through the website, thus giving youse (ahem) guys a few pennies? I know that you have it on the Home page, and various other places, but I don't think it's on the board pages. At least, not that I can remember. It would be very handy.

On the other hand... maybe we don't need anything up there at all???
