I am a real Hawkeye fan, and LOTM fan! He looks so long and tall...people who have worked with DDL and seen him in person sometimes have different ideas of how tall he really is. Does anyone know for sure, like the people who did his costumes, where they actually measured him and not just a "guesstimate"? I know they had the Hawkeye costume on display for awhile at the Gatherings museum but can someone tell me...how tall is he really?

Well, Lilymarie, certain measurements are probably best guessed at *snort! snort!* but I have it on good authority that he is 6'1 1/2' tall. He is a lovely long-leggity beastie, isn't he?

Oh yes, ma'am, quite a lovely long-legged braw beastie. What we here in the South like to call a long drink of water...a long, beautiful drink of water...mmmmmmmm... I'll stop now. But yes, I've heard he's between 6'1 and 6'2. Christina |

Thanks for the answers, folks! The reason I ask, is that I heard he is 6'2" (People Mag, Mr Baker's "testimonial", etc) but someone who says they have seen him many times near his home in Ireland swears his height has always been exaggerated, and that he's no taller than 6 feet! To which I say pish tosh and rubbish! But then someone else who also has seen him in the flesh says he is more like 6'3", much taller in person than he looks onscreen. So that's why I wanted verifiable measurements!
And yes, I can guess at the rest...look at those big feet! Size 13s, I'll bet. And that nose, those hands...those lips, those eyes ahhhh |

I'd go with the opinion that he is taller than 6'. More like the 6'2" or taller. Story goes, when Michael Mann was having the Killdeer made for him in LOTM, he wanted a really long barrel on the gun aesthetically due to his height. Barrel was 48" long of itself, with the total gun length being on the order of 63" or 64". As to the rest, being "hung like a field mouse" myself, I don't speculate and being male........don't much care nither. I'll leave it to Doc Mary or somebody else to grab a tape measure and lift any loincloths. |

Better late than never... Theresa, that is hilarious. I have lived in the south all my life and I have never heard that expression before. That's a keeper. |

I read on a bio for DDL that he is 6'1 and-a-half. I am doubdting this a bit because in LOTM he is evidently shorter than Eric Schweig, and he himself is listed as 6'2. Hmmmm! If you notice their height difference in the scene where they are talking to Col Munro about the settlers' families being in danger...
Just makes you wonder.... |
