Opera! Go to Opera Browser Free Download
I use IE 6+. Used to use the latest Netscape as my secondary browser [for the kids, so they don't mess up my settings, for web site testing, and for the occasional change of pace]. Actually, once upon a time, it was my preferred browser, but through the years it was outdistanced by IE for functionality, the ability to read all that an Internet web site has to offer [for example, even Netscape 7+, the latest, doesn't read all the code even on this board - no hover colors, no scroll bar colors, no scrolling text, and a pretty sloppy job of loading the "This Day in History" applet], and stability. The latter was the last straw for me. It was constantly screwing around with my system, and after much tinkering & re-installing, I finally gave up. I know, I know, there are some out there who will say, "It works great for me." Here, it didn't! So, it was replaced by Mozilla - an Open Source type project upon which Netscape is built. Failure again.
But, wait! There's Opera!!! Another Open Source deal, virtually guaranteeing good ideas, dedication, and functionality [ala this Board's code - Snitz - Open Source!]. If you're looking for a new, or second, browser, give Opera a try. It's free. It's sleek. The download is half that of Netscape or IE [approx 12 MB]. It is fast! The fastest browser, hands down, to any I've ever tried. And, it has some great features the others do not - pop-up blocker, anti-spam, ability to adjust what you see that leaves the rest in the dust, a great little page tab system. Really nice. It also reads all the code on this board - except the scrolling text, but being Open Source, that will probably be rectified. In fact, there's a new beta out right now [I haven't tried that] that may indeed have fixed it.
Anyway, I rarely get too excited about software, but this was a great find & I wanted to share it with you all. Happy Browsing!
