Poll Question:
Does the Mohican Board need more forums?

That's the question for poll purposes. Please, though, comment/elaborate on any changes you feel the board could benefit from - from adding deleting forums, to rearranging them, whatever you feel might enhance the place. This poll/thread can stay here for awhile, so no need to rush anything. Just when you can.

Choices:

Yes
No, fine as is
No, already has too many

I don't know of any forums "Mohican" related that could be added. In fact, there are some that I've yet to venture into. Hmmm...(note to self)...take time to visit those with the little globes.

Movies are great... TV is relaxing (usually)... Reenactments are wonderful... But for some of us, there is nothing nicer than settling into a comfy chair with a cup of coffee, tea or "Potent Potable"... and a big fat book!

Whether you are tackling reading Cooper's "The Last Of The Mohicans", or are savoring every word of a good mystery, books take us to wonderful places of the imagination. I know that we have, at times, discussed good books and it usually has to happen in a forum like "Movies" because there just isn't a place for books, other than Cooper's. This is something that I have actually thought of suggesting for a while now, and this is the perfect opportunity!

So... How about a forum for: Good Books!

Oh! And the 6 degrees? Well, LOTM came from a Good Book... of course!

Hi, All,

I voted 'Yes' to this one. The Book Forum is a great idea. I'm trying to write a fic set in the early 18th Century and can always use a hint or two on good source material (preferably fiction, but nonfiction works too ).

If there isn't one already (I may not have gotten there yet, there's so much to see and do here!), I'd like to see a forum for all types of music. I'm always looking for something new (to me) and different. I'm a Clannad fan from way back, but I have very ecclectic tastes.

For Wilderness Woman: You wanted to know where I've been...? Here in the forums, mostly, when I'm not writing. I could spend days reading Mohicanland stuff and still not see it all. I love it!

I think that a bookforum is a great idea. How about another forum for historic sites?(ie;Fort Pitt,Fort Ticonderoga etc.)There might even be a little section where reenactors can rate them.In this manner, potential visitors can determine if the trip is worth their while.

More thoughts on the "historic sites" forum, please ... I was thinking that was sort of covered with the "French & Indian War" and "The Muster" forums, but I could be swayed ...

Exactly what could be done here?

Well, Highlander hasn't put forth any more thoughts on his suggestion yet, so perhaps I could??

I'm not particularly pushing for this forum, and it may not be something you want to put up, but for what it may be worth...

"Historic Sites" covers more places than those just concerned with the F & I War. For example: Antietam, Monticello, Valley Forge, San Juan Capistrano, the Pueblo ruins, and even Cooperstown, to name just a few. So this could be a broader forum where folks could discuss what they have seen at these places, how it affected them, whether they would recommend it, etc., but not soley from a Living History standpoint.

Just a thought...

I think Highlander and WW have someting here!

I like WW's idea of adding to that premise and having a forum where all historic sites could be addressed by anyone that visits them, reenacters and regular visitors as well - different topics maybe. For instance, I am planning on seeing Fort William Henry and possibly some other sites in the area soon. Not a reenacters point of view of course, but one us history loving girls may relate to. I have a feeling my first recommendation will be to NOT visit during Americade weekend (which is occurring the week I'll be there - World's largest touring event??? - 50,000 bikers...er, I mean motorcycle enthusiasts? - THAT pumped up the lodging fees for the area!!) OH WELL, gotta get it when you can!!! The history fix that is!

This is a good suggestion. While most folks don't get to come to my neck of the woods, we do have some interesting historic sites...ever heard of the Civil War?...Battle of Horseshoe Bend?...DeSoto?

Good ideas Highlander and W.W.

Hey Guys....
I think that maybe we should have a forum(s) for each of the main characters. 'Cause some people like to just talk about the actor/actress and their character.
