*SIGH* Still no essays ... gotta do it all myself!
About The Lions Den: Remember, certain topics can be controversial, personal, emotional, etc. etc. Please try to keep it in The Den. We're all here mainly for rest & relaxation. Don't let hurt feelings, flaring tempers, or other negative feelings carry over! We're all friends! To answer all the questions I hear as I type, "No. Nothing has happened to cause me to say this. It's merely a pre-emptive strike!"
The Against All Odds Message Board: The real one, not the one at the bottom of this board ... Yesterday, I updated it to include everything this Mohican Board does, except, of course, the traffic. It desperately needs some interaction, so if you know anyone interested in the period[s], refer them over to The Against All Odds Message Board.
Storefronts on the Frontier: ... are closing! The time & effort, sadly, just doesn't justify the costs. Most shoppes are closed right now, or they have links to other sources of the same, or similar, stuff. All Bookstores remain open for your use. If you want LOTM-themed wampum goods, you can buy them direct from the French Trader now. The French Trader's Post
... speaking of Clabert. Received this dispatch from him, just yesterday morning. Does me heart good!
quote: I am living with my dad, for the most part. He is about 45 minutes from Cyndie. Although I have been here with her for a couple days! :) You can pass the word as you see fit and tell Roz there is no farther need to "scalp" me. I still don`t have a job but we are ok for a while. Can`t say if we can make it to Gathering or not, but it will remain on our minds till then. (we do have to find someplace to get remarried) <big grin>

Consider it passed, good buddy!
The 2003 Great Mohican Gathering: As you are probably all aware, time is fast approaching for the registration period to begin! Holy Cow! ~~~~ February 1 - May 15 ~~~~ Already, The Geneva is accepting reservations for our group [be sure you tell 'em that you are with the Mohican Gathering to receive your discount!!], and I believe 4 rooms are already reserved! They are holding the entire facility for us till April 17! Look for the registration forms on this site on February 1!
Consider joining us!
It is readily apparent that this could easily be a full week affair. Our itinerary is about set [See: The 2003 Great Mohican Gathering for all the details!], and we whittled away Biltmore & the Nolichucky - 2 extraordinary places - to reach our 5-day limit. Throw those two into the mix, and a what a week it could be!!! But ...
Thanks to Cherie, Marc, Steph, Chris, Jo, Lady Ann, and Diana S. for helping to craft a fine Gathering for this year that will not be expensive at all - despite the extension to 5 days! The amount payable to register is but $140! There are other costs [T-shirt about $10, French Broad fee of $10 if you shoot, some meals, etc.] But, under $140 gets you in AND all this:
- Registration fee to defray costs
- Program Guide
- Vehicle Caravan Flag
- Admission to Chimney Rock Park, plus full breakfast & hiker's lunch
- Admission to the Cherokee Museum, Cherokee Village, Unto These Hills outdoor dr

About The Lions Den: We're all friends! Absolutely! That's why I enjoy this group so much. And I really admire those of you who can debate so intelligently, a gift I have never possessed.
The Against All Odds Message Board: The real one, not the one at the bottom of this board ... Yesterday, I updated it to include everything this Mohican Board does, except, of course, the traffic. Well, I hadn't even found that one yet! I guess I am a bit confused as to how to use it. Doesn't it cover the same topics that are on this board, under the topic of the same name?
Thanks! WW |

Yes, it does ... You see, once upon a time, we used an antiquated system called the "WWWboard" as a bulletin board - forum. We had the Mohican Board & the Against All Odds Board - two completely different entities. Completely unrelated or connected.
Then, last May, when we switched over to this format, I got this hair-brained scheme to combine the two into one board. It didn't work. The Against All Odds portion completely dried up, except for a bit of use by Mohicanlanders. That's what you see here now. So, I set up another Snitz Forum over there ... but I think I was too late. So, the subject matter is the same, but, theoretically, there are two different audiences.
Clear as mud???
