http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13168354 . According to French law alcohol is banned while employees are at work - with the exception of "wine, beer, apple cider and pear cider". . Mmmm, - kinda wonder, does this include surgeons & airline pilots???

When I was stationed in the UK during the 1980's, I remember watching the 'Mate' (as we called the Brits) civilian contractors on base pulling cans of Abbot Ale, and other such brewed/malted beverages, from their lunch-buckets during meal breaks. Much to the dismay of the Nanny-Nazis here in our country, consumption of such adult beverages while working did not result in any accidents/incidents.

I used to work for a textile company with sales offices in New York. It was the norm for the people who worked there to go to lunch with their clients, or even each other, and have a couple of drinks with their food. The southern non-sales managers frowned on this and when we were in NY we couldn't do that when we went out with the NY staff unless the southern managers were not with us. |

Kinda depends on what you're doing, - but a drink at lunch for most occupations shouldn't be any problem. - Of course in many places that's already the case and has been for decades. |

Like maybe with those surgeons on the other thread? A drink to steady the hands? |
