When I first heard of that group of miners down in Chile trapped in that mine, my heart went out to them. Especially after seeing those early fuzzy videos. I imagined being stuck down there with 32 others ... hopeless, cramped, sweaty, STINKY ... it was quite an unpleasant thought. I prayed for those guys!
Now, almost miraculously, they are free. A great effort to get them out; an admirable pact among them to sell their story as a group. Remarkable story!
And then, there is Chris Matthews of CNN's Hardball.
"They (The Tea Party) believe in every man for himself. ... No more taxes, no more government, no more everything. No more safety net. ... Make your buck. Save it. Screw the government ... You know these people, if they were every man for himself down in that mine, they wouldn't have gotten out. They would've been killing each other."
Can you believe it?
I would like to remind Chris Matthews and others of similar thought that the TEA Party emulates those of the ORIGINAL Tea Party - Boston, remember? - Lexington Green, Valley Forge, and Philadelphia Congresses. If I'm not mistaken, these individualists - who PASSIONATELY believed in a small government - banded together for one of the biggest upset miracles in history.

Sachem, there is nothing which Matthews could say that I would find suprising. Cultural-Marxists like the uber-hack Chris Matthews manage to oppose any triumph of the human spirit, and/or find a way to show that it was 'nanny-state' government which saved the day.
On the subject of brainless quotes from this media thumb-sucker; do you remember what Matthews said about Rich Lott? Rich Lott is running for a congressional seat in Ohio, and he is also a World War 2 reenactor, where he portrays a soldat (private) in an SS Panzer grenadier platoon. Apparently the PMS-NBC bedwetter Matthews opined that such a hobby must be 'homoerotic'. This is coming from a man who told America of his 'leg tingling' sensations, while listening to President Obama...
... I wonder, if Mr. Lott's hobby is truly the expression of 'homoerotic' fantasy, could not Mr. Matthews 'leg-tingling' comments be the expression of an 'interracial-homoerotic' fantasy? Perhaps Mr. Matthews has a secret desire to be sexually dominated by a black man (or half-black, in Barry's case), in order to satiate his misplaced white guilt.

My Gary used to watch Hard Ball so he could practice his anger management skills. It was not successful.
I can't stand Matthews, either. Setting his politics aside, the man is simply abrasive.

This has nothing to do with the subject, but WW, when you mentioned "My Gary", for some strange reason it brought to mind Mrs. McKlennar speaking of "My Barney". Don't really know why. |

Well, since Mrs. McKlennar is one of my very favorite movie characters, I guess it's OK if I absorb some of her personality traits, don't you? I love her spunk and her I-can-take-care-of-myself attitude! |

Well, you do live in somewhat the same area, so maybe that has something to do with it. Did I mention that I saw Fort Stanwix last summer. Great place! |
