Not quite, Jim ... funny you asked. About 9AM this morning, a big old oak tree came crashing down. On our house! No one was hurt, though Olivia received quite a scare. She was playing outside, just a few feet from the tree when it came down. Ice was the culprit. The house? Ha Ha! This really is almost funny. We've got a good case of Murphy's Law going on here ... pretty fair amount of damage. The tree spans the width of the house, from front to back.
Ah well ... a few months ago, I wouldn't have seen it this way, but it really doesn't faze me. We have more important things to worry about just now. Insurance can deal with this one.
Glad you asked? |

Thank God Olivia is o.k. How much damage to your house? You guys are certainly going through it all at the present time.Too bad we don't live alittle closer to each other like the old days so we could help out.At least your computer is working! Things will be fine guys because you are good people and always in our prayers. Did the old oak tree have a yellow ribbon around it? Just kidding- A good sense of humor is needed in times like these. The same survivor tactics we used in the nut house.Keep us posted. |

Gosh Rich. Sorry about the house. But you have much to be thankful for: roofs can be replaced, Olivias cannot. Hold one another close! Love, Stephanie |

Hi, Rich,
I'm sorry to hear about your house but I'm glad that all of YOU are OK! Where are you guys staying until repairs can be completed? Is there anything any of us can do to help?
Stay warm and safe and keep us posted!

DANG Y'all!!! Most of my family up there is without power still, but no trees have fallen on their abodes. Supposed to get down in the teens tonight too? Thank Goodness, Olivia is OK! Do you all have power?
Stay Warm - hope no "breeze" is blowing in through open rafters!

Oh yeah ... we have power. In fact, if you sit in the living room - or any room - and don't look out the front window [where the trunk is still precariously leaning, the gutters are hanging, and the front porch is crumbling] - you can't tell anything is wrong. It's the roof, porch, & attic that are in sorry shape.
Not to worry. I sure ain't. It's my little Sophia that needs the fretting over ...
Thanks, though ... I really wouldn't have even mentioned it, if SecureMann hadn't asked. Hey, we could use a new roof BEFORE the tree fell! Now we'll have some money to actually get one! |

Rich, we got a new roof when a hail storm came through. Keep looking for those silver linings...they're there. Keeping your little Sophia in our thoughts and prayers. My daily devotional this morning focused on those who work with pre-mature babies (hey Diana). It's amazing how the Lord knows when and how to awaken me.
