Finally! After *MUCH* research, visits, and phone calls, I have finally settled on Mohican Central...the place where many of you who are attending the Gathering will choose to stay. It is not mandatory to stay here, but most people do like to stay in the same hotel so we can carpool duing the Gathering, socialize, and that's where the auction and raffle items will be!

The absolute best rate I could get for us is at a newly-renovated Sleep Inn in west Asheville off of I-40, Exit 44. This is the same exit where the group stayed in 2006, just a different hotel. Check out these awesome rates!!!!

Tuesday June 17 through Thursday June 19: $62.00 per night plus tax
Friday June 20 and Saturday June 21: $109.00 per night plus tax

I wasn't sure if anyone was staying on Sunday night, I don't know if that counts as weekday or weekend rate.
Folks I don't know if you've checked out hotel prices lately but they have really gone up since I was looking around for the last Gathering. The hotel we stayed at in 2006 has changed hands and the price is *much* higher. I even checked out the Geneva Hotel, but they no longer have the Gathering Room so we would not have a place for the auction and raffle items if we went there.

This Sleep Inn is convenient to I-40, I-26, and is central to many of our Gathering venues. They also gave us a meeting room at a fantastic rate.
There is only one drawback... this hotel does not have a swimming pool. I'm really sorry; I know some of you like having a pool on site, and I really tried to find one, but with these rates I just felt like this was the best we could do. The manager said he knew the manager of a nearby Comfort Inn and he might be able to work something out for us on the use of their pool, but I can't really promise anything.
That Comfort Inn is very closeby, so if anyone would rather stay there because of the pool, let me know and I'll get you the contact information.
Sleep Inn is holding a limited number of rooms for us at these special rates. Make your reservations now! Call 1-866-901-1033 and be sure to tell them you are with the Mohican Gathering in order to get the special rate! Also you will need to clarify your check in and out dates because I told them not everyone would be arriving and leaving on the same day.

If anyone who is attending the Gathering would like to find a roommate, please feel free to use this thread to ask around. Lots of friendships are made with these roommate situations, and it can really save you money.
One more thing: make your reservations at Sleep Inn before May 20. After that, any remaining rooms that were held for us will be released and the discount rate will no longer be available.
Here is the website so you can see pictures.... do NOT use the website to make your reservations, though! Use the toll-free number to get the special rate! :-)

Thanks Steph!!! It looks great!!! Who needs a pool when we have all of those waterfalls around???
Usually Sunday is considered a weekday, so it would probably only be Friday night and Saturday night that would be higher, but it is still a bargain compared to alot of the other hotels and it looks like a very nice hotel. Besides, it serves a FREE hot breakfast. Saves us money right there.
Thanks again Steph for all of your hard work!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!

Love,
Kay

Thanks, Kay! I forgot to mention the hot breakfast. Oh, and the Cracker Barrel is about a half mile away. And I think they are adding an IHOP near there too, not sure when that will be open. There is also a Wendys, Fatz Cafe, and Applebees.

steph,
I just want to let you know that I made our reservations and the lady at the Sleep Inn was so nice!!! I just love her!!! She even said that she would get me as close as she could to the raffle/auction room.
I did ask her about Sunday, and she said that it would be $62.00 if anybody wanted to stay on Sunday night.
They only need a credit card to hold the room. They don't charge it to your card. I have had some hotels to go ahead and charge the card, so I made sure to ask.
Anyway, I have my room.

Love,
Kay

I wonder if you talked to Rebecca. I talked to her and she was really nice and helpful. The manager, Henry, is nice too. That goes a long way with me. There were some hotels where the staff was less than "accommodating." One even told me they weren't taking any group reservations at this time. Ooookkaayyyy. Their loss!
Anyway, glad you booked your room!

Steph,
I'm not sure what her name was. I am the world's worst about getting someone's name, but she sure was nice!!! That means alot to me.
I have also talked to people at other hotels that were very rude. When they act like that, I just mark that hotel off of my list!!!

Love,
Kay

Hey Stephanie!

I just booked my room at the Sleep Inn.
I can't believe the Gathering is less than 3 months away!

Thanks for all of your work in getting us a place to meet/stay.
Hopefully it will work out well and can be used in future gatherings...

See you soon!

I believe there is also a male looking for a roommate too. This would be a great opportunity to cut costs!

What are the dates for the gathering again? I really want to see what I can do to make it to this year. Red, are you still planning on making a presence?

I live in my own little world - but that's okay, they know me here!

Light,
The dates are June 18th-22nd. So, you might want to plan to get there on the 17th if you want to go to the Biltmore.
Hope to see you there!!!

Love,
Kay

If anyone wants a reservation at the Sleep Inn, let me know. I found a "roommie", but will be at a different hotel. I have a reservation at the great rate, 2 double beds, non-smoking, and I will have to cancel it. But, if you'd like to "replace" me on the reservation, there's probably a way to do it (hopefully the Sleep Inn folks will be OK with that--I don't see why not).

Anyway, let me know and we'll work it out. Otherwise, I'll just be cancelling the reservation.
