Still another Gathering Poll - Picking your brains ... There are things to consider: expenses, time, richness of the day, locations to see.

Chimney Rock Park: The Huron Village [site]; The Cliffs

Biltmore Estate: The Burial Ground; Albany

Question: Which of these formats would you prefer? [assuming it's a 5-Day affair - which is not yet definite!]

I think that starting the gathering off at CPR is a wonderful way to begin. They serve a nice breakfast, and its a great and easy place to meet and great all that are arriving. Easy to get everyone in the same area to pass out the gathering packets.

Hi, Cherie,

You bring up some very good points! 2002 was my first Gathering but meeting everyone at CRP, having breakfast there & picking up our Gathering packets did seem to work out quite well. It doesn't really matter to me if we're there all day, or just part of a day, as we were this year...it just seems like a great starting point!

Of course, if the polls indicate that the 2003 Gathering will begin somewhere else, I'll still be there, ready for our first advent'cha!

Starting off at CRP is convenient, nice breakfast, but I wouldn't mind doing something different if others choose. I do think that doing CRP and LInville in the same day is too much, so I didn't vote for that one. I don't want to leave CRP out as there were so many great scenes of the movie filmed there-one of my favorite places, Dupont being another.

I really think starting the gathering at CRP is the best.
I also think visiting midweek, and not on the weekend is better.
Last year worked out really well. It was great not
having to ride the shuttle bus.
I'd rather have the full day there and not try
doing so much the 1st day.
I'd like to see us go back to the motels to clean
up, then everyone dress period style and go out
to dinner somewhere. Have prizes for the best
dressed! Another Bill Miller concert - yes!

Count me as confused, but I'll be there! Having been to only 1 Gathering, I have no opinion on when is best to visit the Biltmore--only that I very much look forward to going. Same with CRP & Linville Gorge. Linville on Wednesday & CRP on Sunday more closely aligns with the order these scenic vistas appear in the film, but CRP on the first day did work out extremely well at this last Gathering.

I agree with Donna that it would be nice to enjoy a full day of CRP and not feel rushed through it. But what's this about period garb? Isn't that Lady Ann's job to get us ALL looking kooky? I hear she started it and look where it led--breechclout flipping at inspirational points. Could this group truly be trusted to dress up and also go out to dinner in PUBLIC?

Just Asking,
Native Heart
