Okay. Diana has gone and done the unthinkable! She has di-vulged one of the two, hitherto unspoken, most secret ‘Rites of Initiation’ leading to the attainment of membership in the most sacred of societies – the GGGG’s – now the Great Gatherings Gatherer’s Group’! Now, I’m going to go with the assumption that she felt it was in YOUR BEST INTERESTS to know exactly what you were going to be dealing with, when attempting to join a GG (Great Gathering). Heck, Diana wouldn’t spill the beans unless she had an ulterior motive! I know her well enough to know THAT!! What a ‘selfless’ gal that… gal is!!
So what did she spill, you ask?? Well... she went and told you all about the FIRST RITE of Initiation, didn’t she! ‘Thou must lock thy keys in thee’s car, on top of Greenknob, or in the vicinity or.. even coming DOWN from theretofore!’ Now it has to be said - I felt there was just a teeeensy, little, *I’ve* done it!* tone to her post, that smacked of ‘not just ANYONE can do it, y’ know! stuff’. Well, Miss, SEVERAL people have done it, neener neener neeeeeener!! SORRRY!! What I meant to say was… indeed, there ARE at present, just a FEW members of this very exclusive club (the GGGG’s remember!) but we anticipate – nay, we HOPE, that the coming GG will elevate the numbers, somewhat!
Diana recounted a few of the names which are associated with this club, but I fear she left one OUT! I TOO can boast of having joined the ranks of the exclusive (so far!) club. For – I was A BIG HELP in Marcia’s doing the same thing TWICE at the same Gathering, isn’t that so, R.?? I’m sure that ‘H.H.’ will bear witness! Didn’t we repeat the rite at the Bear Den Office when we stopped to ‘settle up’ with the staff?? Now THAT is ‘pure professionalism’!!! And I reckon I ought to get my membership badge on the stength of it!
But, oh hey! Don’t be misFOOLED!!! ANY fo… uh, ANYONE can do it!! Though it breaks my heart to have to tell you – there HAVE been ‘near misses’ - folks who JUST COULDN’T CARRY IT THROUGH!!! JUST when the driver thought ‘hey! I’ve done it!! I’ve earned a place in the GGGG’s at last!’ some little jer… uh… their ‘co-pilot’, has stepped in, dug deep – and produced ‘the spare set’ at the very last moment!!! Huh!! Bad timing, folks!! Just BAD TIMING!! Don’t worry – you’ll do it – eventually!!
Then – there is ‘Rite of Passage’ Number 2. (And you thought joining the ‘Freemasons’ (or the ‘pinny waggers’ as they are affectionately known here!) was difficult!!! You haven’t heard the WORST yet!!!
Take a loooooong hard look at this picture!! “GOOD GRIEF!” I hear you moan! “I do not understand what is happening here!” Well… I’m gonna TELL ye!! This is Rite of Initiation No. 2!! So, look looong, and look haaaard! ‘Cause I can tell ye – he’s GONNA ASK QUESTIONS AFTERWARDS!!!

Woohoo, Kate. Oh..and btw, I'm an "almost" member of the keys-locked-in-the-vehicle club as while in the North Carolina mountains one fall with GG, Christina, and Cecelia, I left my keys on that little hook on the inside of the bathroom stall, went back to get them...GONE! But, alas, some good soul turned them in to the gate keeper. Whew! That was a close one...but don't count me out yet.

Oh how soon we forget! I think it is quite clear that *I* was the only gatherer that was doing the chicken dance CORRECTLY!! See that right foot, Sir!? IN FACT, I had been attending to my chicken dance duties SO INTENTLY, SO ENTHUSIASTICALLY, that I had worked up a swe...uh,...GLISTEN, and was getting all that hair out of the way to take full use of that BRIGHT PINK GLAMMY CHAMMY (chamois) thrown over my shoulder... ALL THE WHILE CONTINUING TO DANCE! DANCE, MONKEY, DANCE!
GEEZ! Here I was being a good little gatherer, doing JUST as the Sachem says, and he don't even remember! What's a girl to do! 
NOW, what *I* want to know is...who took that unflattering picture of moi? Katie love, you got some 'splainin' to do!!

I loved the pictures Kate!!! Especially the one with Diana doing her chicken dance.  It looks fun. Oh, I know, we can have a dance contest!!! Nah, nobody could beat Diana. If you have any other pictures, then make sure to send them. I love seeing everybody. One question about the pictures. How did Diana change shirts so quickly. In one picture she has a blue shirt on and then in the next, it is a burgundy shirt. Is that what you call a Gathering Blooper???

Well... Theresa, as I see it, that 'ALMOST' counts! But - we can count on you becoming a FULLY FLEDGED MEMBER this June, huh?? You won't regret it - if you have AAA or some such. If ye DON'T well... I should maybe mention here - membership doesn't come CHEAP! 
Well... I just wasn't sure how big I should have the pics, for putting up on the Board and unfortunately, I made them a little TOO small. But - YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE - Diana is SUCKING UP to the Sachem, and getting right with the programme!  That right foot IS indeed in the correct position for that particular step! 
As it happens, I did remember what ye were doing, my dear! I believe when I took that pic, you had JUST used yer 'misty mate' and were pulling yer hair back to get maximum benefit o' the good ole glammy shammy! (NOTE: I'm pluggin' yer 'gadgets', girl!  )
Unflattering??? NO WAY!! That picture EPITOMISES the girl - the one that climbs mountains, hikes death marches and - does it all with FLAIR!!! That 'posture' says "I'm a girl that can do ANYTHING *throwing hair back with a flounce!* - with my 'Misty mate' and 'Glammy shammy'!!! Just look at this fancy footwork!! Who else can do the Chicken Dance and still look coooool!"
Ahhhh... it's so TRUE what they say about a picture telling a thousand words... Of course, anyone looking through my album would think it's just a pic of a guy trying to get folks to listen up but they won't pay any attention and so he's throwing a strop. But - WE KNOW WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON!!!
Now... if I could only remember what MUSIC is played to that durn dance??? Oh yeah... 'Top of the World' or something... |

Hey there, Kaylynn,
Glad you like the pics! I grant ye, Diana can move FAST!! Boy, when she's on that trail, with all her gadgets, you don't get to MOSEY!! But... this wasn't actually Diana trying to show off all her Gathering 'gear' - that's Cecelia's job! Actually, that lady in the blue T-shirt isn't Diana. But - I can't for the life of me remember her name!!
If you look to Christina's right (that's our 'Red' in the green T-shirt), you'll see someone is seated on a rock, though you can just see a knee and part of a leg. That's Cecelia and Diana was standing beside her when I took the pic. There is actually a couple of minutes between pics, folks were moving around, checking out the view from different angles and going over to chat with other folks... so while I was standing in the same place, the pics taken in the same spot included different people.
In the first shot, it's Ros that's standing behind Christina, (in the spot that eventually becomes Diana's) - BENDING DOWN TO DO GOODNESS KNOWS WHAT BUT I'M NOT GOING THERE!!! This is a respectable, family Board and we're having NONE OF THAT, thank you very much!! Huh!

Kay, that's not me in the blue shirt! I can't make out who it is though. Kate, Rich, ...Help! You can see my arm behind Christina (you can always spot little bitty Christina by her Celtic designs! Shirts, necklaces, earrings, bumper stickers - we have a blast stocking up at the Highland Games in July!) I can't believe I was caught without my mistymate on. You can believe it was close by. I'm sure the trek out to the Table Rock Chimneys (Top of the World) was the REAL reason I was mistin' and dabbin'. A bit of a hike, but the view...OH, the view is unsurpassed! WELL worth it!
Theresa - you were just practicing for this year weren't ya, Dear? EXCEPT...that wasn't last fall that you left those...it was last SUMMER during the UNGATHERING! Remember all those kiddies going down Sliding Rock - wouldn't be finding them doing that in the fall - BURRRRRRRR! It's cold enough in the sumer in those mountain streams. AH YES...refreshing mountain streams!!! IS IT JUNE YET???????

Okay, let me get it straight this time. Diana is in the burgundy shirt, white shorts, and has her glammy shammy thrown over her shoulder. Christina has the walking stick and bottle of water in her hand, and behind her are Ros and Cecelia. Rich is the authoritive guy up on the rock barking our orders. Kay,
The lady with the big bag is Alamo Alma. Her daughter Pilgrim Penny is facing her (back to us) with LONG hair and a black shirt (I believe they were from Colorado and made a couple of gatherings). The girl in black shirt with RED hair is Emily McGowan. Her hubby is Kevin in the first pic with the tan shirt just to the left of the mystery lady in the blue shirt (gonna research that one!) Emiy and Kevin were from Texas and also made several gatherings. I remember the last time they came, they went Spelunking in Bat Cave - A REAL bat cave near Chimney Rock Village. And you called that smile right - What a sweetie Emily was!!!

Well... I believe you could be RIGHT! I was thinking that would be Kevin (Emily's husband) but... I'm pretty sure I recognise those shorts! Why?? Because I was just looking at them! Well... the photo of none other than Grapeshot Ramrod hisownself, I mean! Sheeesh!  And... he just happens to be wearing those shorts...

This was Steve and Marcia and I arriving the night before the Gathering. Steve was just TOTALLY THRILLED to be right where the movie was shot! You should have heard his reaction when he caught his first glimpse of the white rocky outcrop that is Chimney Rock stack! He couldn't BELIEVE he had finally 'got there'!

Maybe you figured this out by now, but in case ... I added a feature that automatically resizes all the images posted on this board. In that way, posts don't get stretched laterally right off the screen. Your pics are actually bigger than you think. Click on one!
As for the female Gatherer in the blue mistaken for GG ... she is ... you know what? I'm not sure who she is .... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |

Yeah... I THOUGHT that way the way of it! (The 'resizing' tool, I mean). The pics were various sizes but... they all seemed to be the same size on the Board. HOWSEVER...
I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT!!! Ohhhhh CLEEEVER!!! (I've got to stop saying that!!! That's my 'positive reinforcement' statement to the baby but - I find I'm saying it more and more often to adults!!! I think people are starting to talk... 
Seriously, I didn't know you could click on a picture to enlarge it... that's waaaaay cool!! I'll have to remember THIS one!! Rich, ye REALLY ought to think about putting in a 'manual' - "how to use the MohicanBoard buttons!" That could prove EVER SO USEFUL!!!
Having said that, I've had fun trying things out, today!!
But having posted so many things today, I thought I must surely rate ANOTHER STAR!! Huh! There ye go... I guess I'm just gonna have to do all this again TOMORROW!! BUT... I might actually HAVE my coffee first!! And consequently... there's no telling WHAT I might write!! |

I think that they should all be ashamed of themselves for not knowing that it was you!!! I have a reason because I have never met you, but the others don't. I still think in those pictures that you and Diana look alot alike, but of course when I see both of y'all in person, I will wonder why I even thought that both pictures were of Diana. My only excuse is that I just get to see the profile of you and Diana and you picture was kind of dark. Of course the different shirt should have tipped me off, huh??? It did look like you were wearing white shorts like Diana. Anyway, I am glad that you cleared it up for everybody. Now you are going to have alot of apologies coming your way.

How soon we forget!...Geez! It WAS SUMMER at the UNGATHERING that I hung those keys on that little hook thingy in the stall.
