To Wilderness Woman, Theresa and others who have friends and family currently serving, you will be happy to know the 'American Soldier' was selected as Time Magazine's "Person of the Year 2003". This is the first time since 1950, when Time selected the 'American G.I.' as it's "Person of the Year". Glad to see that the folks at Time have got their heads out of the 'up-and-locked' position, even if only for a while...

Thanks, Sgt. Munro
We let our friend in the 82nd know about this today. He was very excited and most appreciative. Think I'll have to go buy a copy and send it to him. 'bout time they got one right. |

I must say that in this day & age, I am fairly shocked by this choice ... in a postive way! Kudus Time. |

Yes, I saw that on the news. It is great, isn't it?
I wasn't especially "shocked" by Time's action. Times have changed (pardon the pun). This isn't the Radical 60s and 70s anymore. The greatest majority of Americans these days do support our soldiers... even many of the Baby Boomer (my) generation who were so opposed to the Viet Nam War. I believe we have perhaps come full circle now, and I believe that 9-11-01 had a great deal to do with that.
Heroes are in!
