Good Sunday morning ...
As luck [mine] would have it, I received an E-mail on Friday afternoon informing me that my ordered software, with which to redo & update my guide book, was on back order & was expected to arrive in 7-10 days. $%^@@!%&! Damn, damn ... But, on the bright side, this allows me time to actually figure out exactly what I want to do - that always helps! - and mentally plan it out. Here's my plan to date: Author's Expanded Edition
To give you [and me] an idea on what location shots look like in B&W, here's one sample:

Anyway, the ball is rolling, finally!
New on the Site: What was it, back in July, or so? Rick Martinko, of LOTM's tattoo department, posted here on the Mohican Board. I asked him at the time if he would like to "contribute" a few of his photos to the web site, and maybe recount a tale or two. WOW! Ten installments, 150-200 images, and many stories later, we have his completed version of what it was like to work on this major Hollywood production! Much like Soldier #2, he was around the set from beginning to end and so is able to convey a very complete picture, unlike even the major cast members. Very unique perspectives, a good laugh or two, and an array of wonderful photos ... can't thank you enough, Rick. And, you know, all this takes time & energy. Scanning the pics alone is a major time consuming job. All this for a contribution to a web site! You're a good egg there, Rick! So, you can view/read the latest, at: TATTOO TANTALIZERS ... Part 10. I'd advise you to peruse the entire piece, at your leisure, it's well worth it. To me, it is the very best combination of prose & photos we have received, and adds immeasurably to the quality of this site, not to mention the story told.
Anyone recognize that dude in the center? Wonder where he is, anyway ... long time incommunicado!
[Almost] New on the Board: A couple of fixes to minor things are done, but I added two new features - a few of you may have stumbled upon them late yesterday afternoon - that I eventually disabled. Both had bugs I wasn't too thrilled with. Actually, one was more than a bug.
Auto-lock Topics - This is useful, in particular, for events, but can be used in any post. It allows the poster - so I thought - to set a predetermined length of time - from hours to months - that others would be able to post new replies. After that time frame elapsed, the thread would lock itself. Unfortunately, it was allowing a person who replied to also set an auto-lock time. No good! Maybe I'll put that back after it's cleaned up a bit.
Ignore User - I wrestled with installing this one for a long time. As a community, I thought, why add something that promoted dis-community? Ok, maybe not a word ... This feature would allow you the option to block out posts from any other individual[s]. Then, I got to thinking of how many people have left here because someone got on their nerves. Maybe, this would be the best of both worlds. The ignored user, btw, would never know he/she was being ignored, so there's no hurt feelings & the person who set the ignored thing up could go on reading all threads without encountering the "ignored." I don't know. I can see a usefulness there. Oh, you can't ignore yourself or me , or a moderator.
Anyway, I had to shut it off. I was getting error messages. Plus, once

Re: "Ignore User"--this always seemed like a rather silly function to me (I don't mean here, but in general). If a poster is that annoying, it's probably a community issue. If not, well: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
I'm having a hard time seeing the utility of the other feature. I guess it would be good for folks who like to have the last word!
BTW, I really like that picture in greyscale, Rich. |

I do agree with you, Scott ... on all counts [grayscale doesn't look nearly as sorry as I thought it would!].
Regarding the modifications: The way I look at it is that if someone thought them useful enough to sit down & write all that headache-giving code, then someone here is likely to find them useful enough to use. Maybe? I don't know. The thing is, they are merely options to use if you see fit. If not, then there is no harm done.
Not sure I'll implement the "lock topic" thing or not. Not happy with its design. The other one is something I will never use; BUT, I'm willing to wager there are some that would! Of course, I can't get the darn thing to work ...
Anyway ... |

Well, I just want to say once again, a very big Thank You!!... to Rick Martinko. Words cannot express how much I have enjoyed the Tattoo Tantalizers. The anticipation alone each week was enough to keep me going, let alone the pure enjoyment of sitting down and reading through them... savoring each word and picture. Well done, Rick! Thanks so much! (And thanks to you, Rich, for allowing him to have the space. It is a great addition to your site.)
Rich, I agree with Scott. The gray-scale photo looks good. We have gotten so used to everything being in living techni-color, that we tend to forget the clean, crisp beauty of "black and white." I do hope that this will work out for you, and will continue to be a good seller. |

I'd like to add my thanks to Rick and Rich for the Tattoo Tantalizers and for all the other great places on the site. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time spent here and with everyone in NC. Chris |

Hmm, I wonder how it would be to watch the movie in black and white?

OK, function fixed ... I tested it fairly thoroughly & all the bugs appear out of it. That Raid spray really works!!
So now - when things here get to be more than you can bear and you just can't take it any more , resist the temptation to leave - just IGNORE-away ... and be happy! |
