Nothing too much going on this week, though we did, for the first time, break the 3000 unique visitor mark in a single day. Well I remember when we used to think 300 was a lot!

New on the Board: Whenever I makes changes/additions to the features available on this board, test as I might [and I do!] I am never quite certain that they work completely - 100%. It takes you guys browsing, posting, etc. to validate it. That's why you are the Eyes of the World .... Let me know if things don't work correctly!

Auto-Image Resize ... This is now installed and I think it is working ok, but not sure on this one. It may whack out some browsers, but on IE 6 & Netscape 7 it appears ok. What it does is to - upon page load - resize the images in a post to a pre-set size. This prevents the text of the post from stretching off the screen when a too-large image is inserted. You can click on the resized-image to see it in its full glory. It'll pop-up - and I do mean pop-up - and then you can close it when finished & continue with the post. By NO MEANS is this to be considered an alternative to compressing and/or resizing your images before you post them. It's just a catch, of sorts, for the slip ups. We'll see how it goes.

New Posting Ranks ... There are now 5 additional "ranks" you may achieve from your accumulating post totals. Some of you will notice a change in your rank ... nothing personal, just means you fell into a new category. I did this somewhat hastily ... and arbitrarily ... if ever you have a suggestion for a relevant rank title change, do pass it on!!!! It's all just for fun.

E-Mail of the Week:

Under Mohican musings there's a piece titled:

A Few Bits & Pieces Contributed By Marie Faure:

General Montcalm's aide de camp, Louis Antoine de Bougainville is
played by Dylan Baker.

=====

Bougainville was in fact played by Mark Edras who was picked probably
for his looks. He didn't have the accent and he read it slow during
filming hence the sped up voice over.
(He read and gave the intercepted courier letter to heyward at the
fort surrender scene)

He was with a group of military extras self-titled the "Swamp Rats".
The name came from the fact that the first place Forward Pass
put us up was in a camping ground that looked like a swamp.

When given the part Mark was put up in a hotel, given $400 a day
and given a trailer to use. After his shots were filmed he
couldn't participate as an extra anymore in case he was seen.
He introduced me to wes studi on the trailer lot.

I'm not sure where Dylan Baker fits in.

I will add this to the Musings once it is verified. I had planned to reconcile this with the original posting, but time ran out ... The original article can be found at: Even More Mohican Musings. Our original source was very reliable.

How's He Do That? Do what?!? Make the hyperlink a word or words ... like just above. Easy! Under "Format Mode" - in the posting screen - choose "Prompt," then, follow the prompts!

Tattoos: A well-deserved week off taken by Rick from his installments of his reminisces of his days on the LOTM set. Promises to be back next week! Says Rick, I figure that there are 3 more installments to go: wrapping up at the fort/Massacre Valley, Chimney Rock, and wrapping up shooting.

Gathering News: It's official! Oneida [Iroquois] recording artist, Joanne Shenandoah, will be performing at the Mohican Gathering the night of June 22, 2004 at the intimate, up-close-and-personal, Spirits on the River - along with a fine, and hearty, Native dinner! A promo pack is on its way, so I'll update the site & post more on this aft

Well I'm quite curious now about the Bougainville thing.

My DVD lists a Mark Edrys as Bougainville, and in fact the Bougainville at the surrender doesn't look much like pictures I saw on the web of Dylan Baker.

Yet some (but not all) Baker filmographies on the web list the LOTM part, and at least one mentioned the voiceover story.

(Edrys had no sites that I could find.)

Furthermore, some of the LOTM cast lists on the web show Baker having the part.

Now that I look at the scene closely, there's really nothing to indicate the part where Bougainville is reading couldn't have been filmed another time--or refilmed.
