You did?? You didn't mention this to me... that I can recall! I think it's Clatskanie... with a "C"... unless there is another one I don't know about? Was it quite near Portland? Boy, would I love to hear that story!
1972... hmmmmm.... if you went up (or down) the coast, then you passed within about 50 miles of where I was living in Salem, in the Willamette Valley.
The Oregon coast is gorgeous, isn't it?

Hmmm ... I seem to remember a "K", but who knows ... it was probably a "C". I doubt there'd be two places with that name in the same state. We came down from Vancouver, BC, through Washington, and KClatskanie was up there toward the NW of the state - inland a bit, but not too far. I'd have to look at a map. We hitched from there to the coast, then all down the coasts of Oregon & California, as far south as Encinitas. Took a bus UP through Oregon to Bellingham, WA later that summer. In '74 came down the coast again with our own van [my buddy, Butch, and I - same two who hitchhiked]. - Remember? Madame Mimi's Hussy Bus - I simply love the place ... the whole coastline. So very different from the east coast I was familiar with at that time! |
