Like some people like comic books I like the Alamo.I'm really anticipating the upcoming film the ALamo.
I just hope these viruses desolve soon.It's getting annoying....I know it is for you rich.

Well folks, the virus infected email has started up again. Between 6 PM when I shut down email, and 11:30 pm when I just logged on to check, I had 103 emails, 102 of which were spam infected emails again. For two days, we had a break. Now it seems to be starting again. I really, really think somebody needs to go to jail for 20 years for this bullcrap. I don't care if it is some 13 year old kid, some techno-geek with no life, or some Akhmed the A**hole with a laptop with satellite linkup from a cave in Afghanistan. Whoever it is, kill 'em or jail 'em. I've about had it with this stuff. Anybody know an ISP service that has no spam? I'd heard there was one service who claimed to have NO spam at all, and I do NOT mean AOL. Was it earthlink? Some other? I just know I do NOT feel like dealing with another week of this crap.

I'm not getting any, Bill. I did notice an influx of bounced back [content violation, etc.] E-mail that was forged with my E-mail address, so, it would appear, that another surge is ocurring, as you say.
I am very hesitant to declare victory, but possibly my server-side filter is working ... I have it set to filter by "message text," as they all have the identical text, unlike their subject lines which have many variations [re:, re: re:, etc.] ... If your ISP can do that for you, it would be most helpful!

They already arrested an 18 year old kid who caused one of the viruses.His sentence will be declared soon.But come on....these viruses is annoying.I'd hate to see SoBig.G virus start on the September 11th tragedy and on the Legendary Quarterback Johnny Unitas's death anniversary.
Again I wish luck to everyone through this "epidemic". |

Hey guys,
I have been inundated with he same SOBIG.F crap that Bill and Rich have. Around 300 a day. I too, thought it had stopped, and it DID for 3 or 4 days, but I returned this afternoon to 1843 emails since Friday morning, 90% having the "Thank You", etc. messages. I'll have to see if I have a meesage content filter! Unfortunately, I also was vulnerable to the Blaster.wrm. AND the Backdoor.wrm (the one the 18 yr old was arrested for I think?) AND the Klez one. Ohhhh, to learn to visit Windows Update regularly!!!! I was already good about the Norton update, but didn't know how often Windows Update should be checked. PLUS being on a big University Network doesn't help matters. Kudos Rich to your server filter and crossed fingers that it continues to do the job! Now....back to deleting.....

Hi Diana,
You should be able to sign up for Windows Update notifications. I know that I'll get a pop up message whenever they have a new security update. Something to look into.
Also, Bill - I would check out Earthlink. They have really good spam blockers...they also offer a "pop-up" ad eliminator.
