First of all ... the important stuff:
Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mothers out there! Most remarkable people ... a breed apart?
Spent a long while yesterday morning fixing up little odds & ends throughout the web site - and found myself entangled in some of the community stuff that's gone down throughout the years. I had to stand back, somewhat staggered really, at what has been achieved in that area.
And still it goes - ever-changing - but going still! I read this stuff with a mixed bag of emotions: satisfaction, sadness, pride, joy ... others ... So, I got a bit side-tracked in my endeavors to tidy up a bit, though I did manage to straighten up the Storefronts on the Frontier - a gradually phasing out area [with the exception of the Book Stores!] - and tended to some other bits & pieces.
But, for those of you somewhat newer to the proceedings here on the Board, and for all of you who wish a trip down memory lane that will probably leave you all warm & fuzzy, here's what held me up ... visit if you will when you have the leisure time:
The entire Great Mohican Gatherings Section. Along with the Mohican Board, the coup de grace - probably more so!
The Cast & Crew - When you stand back & think about it, how incredible is it that so many involved in the production took part in the expansion of this web site in some manner ... from the extras all the way up to Michael Mann!
Another entire section, parts more so than others, and a section pretty much abandoned these days , Off the Beaten Mohican Trail - particularly pay attention to the Dr. Mary Pages, From the Mohicans' Lands to Mohicanland, Visitor Comments, and The Mohicanland Masses. Lots of laughs elsewhere, too - try this one, if you haven't in a while, a masterpiece! Lainey's Alice in MohicanLand. What a hoot!
Another little page buried: Which Way Does the Trail Go?.
Of course there's the Old Mohican Board Archives, but that's a whole 'nother trip!
Even with all that, I managed to get a sunburned back while mowing the grass!
So, look back at the Web Site! It is chock full of gems & nuggets all over the place - in the Musings, the History, Off the Trail ... everywhere. Ah, it was fun for me!
And, after you really get enticed, and all the juices are flowing, consider signing up for The 2004 Great Mohican Gathering. It is going to be a most special event!
OH! And, a book, from an old-timer [albeit scarce these days]:
The Horseman by our Towne Crier The Horseman, republished in a visually pleasing manner, uncut, all reviews and commentaries added, rings in at 648 pages but at a very legible 12pt tiems New Roman font. See what you can do!
Happy Trails!

I must admit that after this section, the Gatherings section is the area I frequent often. I count my blessings again and again that I stumbled across this website, not just because my two Gathering trips have provided me with some of the happiest and most peaceful memories of my life, but mostly because of the people I have had the honour and pleasure to meet, in particular, the people who I consider more than fellow gatherers....my friends. From being able to invite myself to Woohoo Dana's house when I needed a little break from home, to a little 'Lions Den Dinner' in Asheville, to crashing a NC wedding just to say hi(!), to meeting up with the Dutch Trader for dinner in Amsterdam - these are the reasons this is a community, and not a website. The long arms of friendship reach far further than an initial shared interest.
Thanks for the memories, Rich and Lainey...they're lifelong ones...
