If you visit the website, you'll find links in the above paragraph to the Hendersonville Times News article, editorial and temporary rules.  Some of the suggestions made at the public hearings concerned me - specifically, allowing motor vehicles into the Forest for access to the falls!!![:O] [:(!] Can you imagine?!  Another suggestion was to lift the rules for keeping dogs on leases (I guess that includes Great Danes, Rich!).[;)]  Let's hope that the "powers that be" will make their decisions for the greater good and that they will preserve the pristine beauty of this area and these magnificent waterfalls for generations to come.

By the way, I also read that Friends of DuPont Forest has been awarded non-profit status.

It will be interesting to monitor what happens to this beautiful part of Mohicanland!

It's a great page about a very beautiful place, and I am so very happy to know that the state of North Carolina is doing everything possible to protect and preserve the DuPont State Forest - AND our beloved waterfalls!

Diane B.	Posted - April 01 2003 : 1:24:42 PM The Henderson Times-News has an interesting article about our beloved falls in the DuPont State Forest! On the DuPont State Forest homepage, a summary of the news says the following: NC Supreme Court rejects lawsuit against waterfall acquisition The NC Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal brought by area businessment against the State of North Carolina's use of the Clean Water Management Trust Fund to fund acquisition of the waterfall tract inside the DuPont State Forest. This effectively ends legal challenges to the State's use of eminent domain to stop the construction of a gated community on the tract. A Transylvania jury is still expected to resolve the issue of financial compensation, which has been contested by the developer. This is wonderful news!
