Finally I have my own copy of The Last of the Mohicans. I have been relying on my memory and the public library.

Nice postal system only took 5 days including the fourth of july to get here

Not you MG.
Well, I'm going back to YouTube to take a trip down memory lane. I'm listening to Bob Dylan now. "The Times, They are a Changing"

Love,
Kay

Would I kid you?? ;)
Kaylynn44 Posted - July 28 2007 : 8:24:15 PM
I checked them out and they are pretty good. They were singing "Early Morning Rain." Gordon Lightfoot was singing with them. I don't know why I have never heard of them. You made a good choice MG. I approve.

Love,
Kay

You can trust me Kay ... ;)

MG,
Ian and Sylvia???? I don't think that I have ever heard of them. I will have to check them out on YouTube and let you know whether or not they are any good.

Love,
Kay
Monadnock Guide Posted - July 28 2007 : 7:34:45 PM
Finally Kay - you get one right, Gordon Lightfoot. ;) Now don't forget Ian & Sylvia here. Joan Baez's voice is alright, it's her politics that's way off base. Most 60's folks groups were pretty good too.
Kaylynn44 Posted - July 28 2007 : 7:22:20 PM
Linda Ronstadt (excellent!)
Helen Reddy (at the Oregon State Fair)
Seals and Croft (also at the Oregon State Fair)
Joan Baez, twice
Gordon Lightfoot, twice. Love him!
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (Ya shoulda seen the joints light up in the Portland, Oregon coliseum! Holy cow! It looked like a Christmas Candlelight service! Guess security just turned their heads, as it would have been chaos.)
Ed Ames, who interestingly enough, had the Kingston Trio as his openers.

WW,
I LOVE Gordon Lightfoot too!!! I wish that I could have seen him in concert. My favorite song of his is "If You Could Read my Mind."
I also love Anne Murray. She has a beautiful voice and although I love all of her songs, my favorite is "Snowbird."
I had to laugh about Crosby, Stills, and Nash. I can just imagine all of the joints being lit up and everyone is so mellow listening to "Teach Your Children Well." Another favorite of mine.
I also love James Taylor. There are so many that I love that he sang. Let's see, there is "Carolina in My Mind", "Fire and Rain", and "You've Got a Friend." Just to name a few. I'm listening to "You've Got a Friend" right now. I LOVE this song!!!
Okay, enough of my favorite singers and songs. I could go on forever!!!

Love,
Kay

Personally, I think that Creedence Clearwater Revisited is better than the original CCR.

...and how could we forget? -- Queen !!! Freddy Mercury's voice was unbelieveable. Even today, my 12 y.o. Granddaughter is crazy about them. And yes, ladies, by favorite song is Fat Bottomed Girls!
Wilderness Woman Posted - July 28 2007 : 11:56:33 AM
Never saw the Dead, or CCR either.

Let's see... I'm trying to remember the concerts I saw in person back in the 70s.

I think there were a few more, but can't remember right now.

There were also lots of classical concerts, but I won't bore you with those.
Fitzhugh Williams Posted - July 28 2007 : 10:43:58 AM
You should have seen the Dead in concert.

Yep, I will officially be a GGGG. Where is my cane at??? Excuse me while I go take a big gulp of Geritol.

Love,

PS Notice how off topic we can get.

i didn't know that! i'm always asking who my mom liked back in the 70's!
Monadnock Guide Posted - July 27 2007 : 9:10:17 PM
Actually, sounds like you had a pretty good time, - back when. Hitting the half-century mark huh? H*ll, what an old fossil you're getting to be. ;)
Kaylynn44 Posted - July 27 2007 : 9:04:13 PM
You do like to yank my chain, don't ya??? That's okay though because I love thinking about my silly childhood especially since pretty soon I will be hitting the half century mark!!!

Love,
Kay

Just kiddin' with ya Kay, - BTW, glad you took the bait. ;) I'm a tad older and never watched (yes heard of) that family. Always enjoy your posts ... ;)

Hey MG,
Go here: http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/P/htmlP/partridgefam/partridgefam.htm to see The Partridge Family, and NO, it's NOT the red headed kid (Danny Bonaduce) that I was madly in love with.

Love,
Kay

MG,
David Cassidy was one of the biggest heart throbs for thousands of teeny boppers back in the early 70's. He played on "The Partridge Family."
I don't know how old you are MG, but you would have to be between 45-55 and be of the female persuasion to really know who he was.

Love,
Kay
Monadnock Guide Posted - July 27 2007 : 7:49:33 PM
Alright Kay, I'll bite, - who's this guy Cassidy?
Kaylynn44 Posted - July 27 2007 : 7:26:04 PM
Okay, time to give everybody a laugh. I've been to two concerts in my life. The first one was for my 13th birthday. Now, y'all have to remember, this is 1970 and and I was madly in love with David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman. I just knew that I was going to grow up and marry one of them. It didn't matter which one, because I loved them both equally. At the time, we were living in New Jersey, and when I found out that David Cassidy was having a concert nearby, my poor parents didn't hear the end of it until they gave in and let me and my sister go to the concert. I think that I even told them that they would never have to get me anything for any other birthday for the rest of my life. You can imagine that by the time my next birthday rolled around, I had forgotten all about that. Okay, y'all can go ahead and laugh "with" me for going to a David Cassidy concert, but trust me, when you are a 13 year old girl, it is the most important thing in the world to actually see the man of your dreams. One girl fainted when he came on stage.
The next concert that I went to was when I was 15, and we were living in Arizona. 35 years later, this group is still a favorite of mine. I went with some friends to a Creedence Clearwater Revival concert. I love "Up Around the Bend" and "Down on the Corner." Yep, I grew out of the David Cassidy stage, but CCR will be in my heart forever!!!

Love,
Kay

I've actually only been to 2 concerts in my life: the Righteous Brothers and Clay Walker (featuring Sara Evans).

I introduced my hubby to Johnny Cash a while back, and now he can't stop listening to "Cocaine Blues." (I think b/c it's a song about a guy shooting his "woman" down! )

And as a totally random footnote, I'm throwing a bit of a party now too b/c I can *finally* get on the internet at my new apartment. Woo hoo! My stupid wireless connection has been on the fritz, but now I have access. Yay! (Sorry. )
