: Hi Petra,

: Just wanted to tell you that I have found these recent *discussions* very interesting ... I have had little time to do anything on the Net & no opportunity to add my thoughts/ or engage in discussions on patriotism, nationalism, perspectives, prejudices, history, healing ceremonies, non-healing ceremonies, the formation of the American identity, things old, things new, Dutch Guilders, German Silver, emulation, frauds, flattery, flags, POA, or even apple pie, but ...

: I at least wanted to say that I understand & agree with much of what you've expressed & appreciate that you've taken a lot of time to explain & re-explain your viewpoints & experiences. It was very gracious of you to do so.

: I'd also add that I enjoy reading your posts & discussing issues with you because of your honesty.

: Thanks ...

: PS You know how some of the *important* people in Bari, Italy deal with the ever changing political scene & power plays of the world? They keep flags for all the big boy nations in their homes. No matter who shows up in the sea, they have the right flag to wave ... they smile while saying "Che sera, che sera ... mangiamo!"

Hi Elaine,

thanks for your friendly words and for understanding! And thanks everyone who sent me all those friendly and understanding e-mails recently, I'm glad and amazed and will respond in a moment!
Elaine, you know how much I enjoy hearing your thoughts and viewpoints too (well, I hope you do) and I'm looking forward to read again whenever you'll be ready to discuss pie recipes or new and old things of any kind. :-)

You know, calling everyone to the table is never a bad idea. On a comfortably filled stomach, the world looks more agreeable immediately, doesn't it? Talking about food and Italy.... we've found the nicest Italian restaurant in our area the other day, where the pasta tastes just right, where the basil and the garlic are fresh, and where they serve the thin crust pizza, mmmmh! They were playing Italian songs of the 50s and then a waitress went from table to table and sang for everyone with the brightest and clearest soprano voice. Life is good! ... What's for dinner today?

Have a great Sunday, everyone!
Petra
