Good Morning, Folks ....
Some of you may have noticed the lack of a feminine host here in MohicanLand. Lainey's alive & well ... very busy with kids & school (yes, started here Aug. 6!) and preparing items for our Gift Shop & for craft fairs, etc. Have no fear! She shall return ...
So, on my own ... just a few things this week.
We'll start with the unrelated - Ever hear of Excel Telecommunications? They offer excellent long distance service & rates, plus a solid ISP, and more. We are signing people on to their service as an income supplement and have decided to place our business on the Site in the Trading Post section, under "Smoke Signals." Try it! It's a seamless switch-over - no cost, of course! - in fact, it will SAVE you money - and, if for some reason you are not satisfied, Excel will pay to switch you back. You really have nothing to lose! It's also a business oportunity. Yes, you can just try the service, no problem. But, if you'd like to make some side money, try becoming an independant representative. If you do that BEFORE Aug.31, you'll have 90 days to sign on 10 long distance customers. Do that, and you get a free Dell computer system! (You can count as your own first customer, so that leaves 9!) Look over our Smoke Signals page & drop us a line!
OK, back to LOTM ....
The Gathering 2000 - Beginning to shape up. We contacted The Biltmore Estate & they are very willing to work with us, so that may be an option.
"Special Projects mentioned customizing a tour for
your group where someone from their department would take your group on
'Mohican Road' where most of the movie was filmed and stopping at the Guest
House for a few pictures. Special Projects, although agreeable, wants to
make arrangements with your group closer to the time of your visit when you
know a definite number of people and have a definite itinerary."
So, in addition to a special group discount rate, we may get a tour. However, we have by no means decided on this. It's simply an option. Much will depend on The River Walk's availability & other factors. As announced on our 2000 Gathering Page, we have established an E-Mail list for the purpose of directly getting information to those most seriously interested in attending, plus ex-Gatherers of any status. We sent out a little question the other day regarding Biltmore. Of those who responded so far, there has been OVERWHELMING approval of a Biltmore expedition, so ... its stock has risen! We also asked you to rank all possible locations in preferential order. Results? VERY inconclusive! Many comments to the effect that ANY locations would do! You're TOO easy! We'll see how things develop ... We're working on contacting Mr. Anthony, new owner of The River Walk.
A lot of little updates, and new things, scattered about the Site, including another Six Degrees challenge & Vita's book in our bookstore, but the thing I'm most excited about is my little brother's, Ronnie, musical contribution. We've added three of his orginal compositions here & there on the Site. Ran one of them by a few of you earlier. Reaction? Positive! I think they add a very nice mood to the goings on. They are in midi format. One is on the 1999 Gathering Page, another on From The Mohicans' Lands To MohicanLand Page ... We utilized one on the Mark Baker Pages, and so, that is our Blast From The Past Page this week. (see link below). Mark PROMISES to finish, some day ... See what you think.
Director's Cut, DVD-style? Looks good, but STILL we're waiting on more info!
Who's messing with the TV Guides? NOTHING on the History Channel, again!
Soldier #2 promises a "The Patriot" update!
See you next time ...
