I'm occasionally (almost always) afflicted by a touch of insomnia in the middle of the night, and have the bad habit of flicking on the TV.

Not long ago I did this and was presented with a family argument. The teenage son of a Jewish family (perhaps in the early fifties) was dressed to the nines as Hitler and ready to go out on Hallween. His mother was dismayed (though more along the lines of what people would think), and called Dad, who told the kid he had to stay home.

Thing was, Dad was an organized crime figure who killed people as a routine part of his business.

Can't recall the name of the movie.

Is there a moral to this story. Well no, not really.

But Halloween is a time to masquerade as the demonic.

Would I let my son go trick-or-treating as Osama?

Don't think so. I like to get him back in one piece.

But, every year I put out a message that gory and violent costumes are not appropriate to an elementary school. NOW, I'm concerned about bin Laden costumes, I understand they are selling like hot cakes!!...I WILL NOT TOLERATE my students dressing as this bastard and I have drafted a message to parents that says as such.....Would people allow their children to dress as Hitler!!???
