Ben,
I’ve never heard of “Patriot” being accused of being any kind of an accurate depiction of…. anything. But I am trying to think of a recent movie where “Redcoats” have been portrayed in such a light that would lead one to believe that their efforts could enable their small nation, (what?, something less than 25 million people at that time), to come to dominate 2/3 of the world even with the loss of the American Colonies.
Methinks the problem is that Imperialism is out of vogue in film, more so than some kind of Anglophobic conspiracy.
But, yes… now I remember one of the best movies ever made… where two “Redcoats” account quite well for themselves. It was filmed in the mid 70’s, based off of a Kipling story. Anyone care to guess?
