I've been on sabbatical for a while and just itchin' to invent a high-powered, far-reaching carpet duster that cares naught if it carries Soothsayers, Sassy, Brassy or whatever! And just the other day a colleague of mine tossed some plans my way for a new Gnome-gnasher called the "Gastro-Gnome - it makes pip-squeaks palliatively palatable". Being the rather gentile creature that I am though, I certainly would rather not be driven to nastiness, so...CAN IT YOU TWO!

Get out your fingers & with a frown,
Look around you, up and down,
Check the couches, check the floor,
Count the cats...one, two, three, four...
And in the kitchen, sakes alive,
Another rests...that makes FIVE.
One for the thumb, and one for each finger,
That's FIVE, (just so no doubts will linger!)
Now, Gadget Girl, look around once again,
This time count CANINES, says me, with a grin...
How many canines can you find in your house?
Far be it from me to continue to grouse,
But I've been there, myself, and SEEN what it was,
So don't try adding additional paws!
Look close, and look hard, but try as you might,
You'll find there's only one doggy in sight.
That's ONE dog, GG, though a big one she is,
But one dog to five cats, good golly, gee whiz!
It doesn't take a scientist who knows about rockets,
Or a fancy magician pulling numbers from pockets,
To settle this question of which one is best...
Just do the math...it's an open-book test.
Number of kitties, so warm and so furry,
Is FIVE, count'em FIVE! No need to hurry
To count all the dogs...there aren't very many.
In fact, with one LESS, there wouldn't be ANY!
So, don't give us this bunk about dogs being BEST,
When you, your own self, can't pass this quick test.
FIVE beautiful cats...I know that you love 'em,
Else why would you want so dang many of 'em?
As for your big dog, it must be a case
Of giving your cats something fuzzy to chase!
MMMM
