: : : In My Life
: : : There are places I remember,
: : : All my life, though some have changed,
: : : Some forever, not for better,
: : : Some have gone and some remain.
: : : All these places had their moments,
: : : With lovers and friends I still can recall,
: : : Some are dead and some are living,
: : : In my life I've loved them all.
: : : But of all these friends and lovers,
: : : There is no one compared with you,
: : : And these mem'ries lose their meaning,
: : : When I think of love as somthing new.
: : : Though I know I'll never lose affection,
: : : For people and things that went before,
: : : I know I'll often stop and think about them,
: : : In my life I'll love you more.
: : : Though I know I'll never lose affection,
: : : For people and things that went before,
: : : I know I'll often stop and think about them,
: : : In my life I'll love you more.
: : : In my life I'll love you more.

: : Oh my goodness Huggy, does this bring back memories!! Now, let's see, how old was I? (Was I ever that young??) LOL!
: : Thanks for thinking of this Huggy. It's certainly a wonderful song and so much a product of it's time.
: : Peace! Jeri
: Agghhh! Agggghhh! Doc M is having a flashback!! She's sitting
: in her dorm room looking out at a gray, miserable, Pittsburgh
: winter day, probably with some god-awful English paper due,
: smoking Camels and listening to Judy Collins sing "In My
: Life" over and over and over. If you've never heard her
: version of it, it's on an album of hers called, strangely
: enough, In My Life. She has an incredible voice.

I have to say that this is my all time favourite Beatles song, but my favourite version is Bette Midler's. She sang it in a slower tempo, a real ballad, and every time I hear it, it means something new to me. I just love it. And I thought it was a suitable thought seeing as today would have been John Lennon's sixtieth birthday.
