: In the film LOTM the 35th Regiment of Foot only seemed to have three officers. Colonel Monroe, Major Hayward and Captain Beams. Now a Regiment would of had around 20 officers, how come you never see any others with a sash? And was Captain Beams killed?

: Thank you

: Ben Fletcher

I don't believe Michael Mann was very concerned with portraying Seven Years War soldiers in a very historically accurate manner in the film. From what I've observed it looks like he only made enough effort to make the soldiers uniforms, etc. look "good enough" so that the average viewer ignorant of what Seven Years War soldiers looked like wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I don't believe there are any 35th Regt. soldiers accurately portrayed in the film, for the 35th had orange facings on their regimental coats. In the film "Munro" and the majority of the British regular troops at the fort(except for a few Higlander grenadiers) have beige facings on their regimentals. The 27th Inniskilling Regt. of Foot had beige facings at that point in history. In reality, Monro had detatchments of several regular regiments as well as many provincial regiments which you never see in the film which is unfortunate. Also I believe Major Hayward was supposed to be an officer of the 60th Regt. in the film. There are many errors regarding the portrayal of regular soldiers which are much to numerous to list here.
