: The first time I saw LOTM and Nathaniel put poor Duncan out of his misery, I thought for sure that a bunch of warriors would've given chase. It seems to me that they would have been furious that Nathaniel deprived them of the "pleasure" of watching the British officer fry. From what I've read, for some tribes, the more their victims screamed during torture, the more the tribe enjoyed tormenting their enemy. Other tribes greatly respected the man who faced his death without crying or carrying on. A la Magua, when he knows he's toast and he stands to face Ching. and his own death.

Hi Joy!

You Know What I Thought? Hawkeye was at some distance and undercover of the trees and the natural landscape. Notice that Chingachgook and Uncas stayed at that point, close enough to see what transpired between Hawkeye and the camp of the Delaware but far enough away so as not to be detected by any watchful warriors. Remember, this was wartime and there was a lot of danger even to the Delaware camp, so I'm Thinking, with all the comotion and excitement the camp would never be able to locate which direction the shot came from even if they did notice that Ducan was shot. Hawkeye only shot once!
As for Magua, he was a warrior! I know if I were a warrior, I would fall only if I were dead first! I figure It Goes With The Territory! That's What I Saw And I Will Forever Stand By It!

Stay Strong with Love, Kathleen
