Not to take away from the heavy topics of the lyrics for the Clanniad song; which were on the site they had, Sunny; sorry they don't have them up now; to "Bottoms Up" from the Huggy Merchant (thought you were talking about Watford....)
I FINALLY FINISHED THE DEERSLAYER!!!! (Of course, going camping the other last weekend with not much to do but sit- did help get the final 200 pages done.....the only other book in camp was "Cold Mountain" which I'd already read; so lucky for Mr. Cooper.....)(And there were no walls to throw the book at....I may have missed about 50 pages in the middle there; I mean, if I had such conversations with my sons between early morning dark and dawn; I'd be out of the house! I think I gave up a bit on Hurry taking "his leave" for 20 pages and some; all before the sun came up......(or am I thinking of Natty on his furlough???) Gaylee, I admire you on enjoying this book; I must admit, I am glad just to have finished all 515 pages....the book even got dunked (by mistake) in the water and had to dry out so I could finish it....
What I really enjoyed, more than the book, was the few things included with the book: "James Fenimore Cooper's Life" preface and the "Introducing 'The Deerslayer'"; by it appears; Robert Clark; there was a chronology of the Leather-Stocking Tales included; which I already had from Gaylee, and a, a most interesting read; a "Select Bibliography" of books of the time. (These I will look into to....)(Looked very interesting..)
Well, the book did have its excitments every 100 pages or so; about how the Glimmerglass looked on numerous evenings/pre dawns; how to handle a paddle; how Chink sort of jumped right in there to save our hero, I guess this is where Uncas got his idea.....
Anyway, the book is still in one piece - very worn from being sopping wet for a bit but then, not against any wall....so onto the Pathfinder????
Gaylee, I finished it.......!!!!! Finally!!!
