: My dear E.Lane,
: Please accept my most sincerely and humble apologies [flourished bow] for the audacious manner of my opening for trade in this great land of Mohicanland, without appearing before the appropriate governing bodies for permission. Had I known -- if only I had known -- permission was required! I would most faithfully have made the appropriate obeisance and petition for the right to trade. Accept as my excuse the mere fact that the place has appeared dead for the past several days! I could have sworn all had be scalped!
: As for my information about my Cooperism, well, trade secrets, don't you know... But, I will let this little bobcat out of the bag -- I have a source and am acquiring more for certain rare books that certain Mohicanites are "in'ner-ested in" (to quote Le Longue Carabine).
: As for She-Who-Track..., E.Lane my friend, I have no idea who this is or where she is! But as you know, I am new to this territory!
: I look forward to being able to be of asstance and to make fair trades with the citizenry!
: Yours, respectfully,
: English Trader
Dear English Trader,
Now, what is this? Only one reprimand of E. Lane and you are already on your knees and apologizing all over the place? Since I am in a generous mood, I will offer you this piece of advise: courtesy, humbleness and fair trade don't cut it in Mohicanland; the sooner you lose those "qualities", the better for you. Get real nasty and obnoxious and you might even turn out to be an acceptable trading partner.
Now to my already very acceptable trading partners: As you have learned, my visit to the Low Lands has been succesful. I will now retreat to my secret cabin near Old Village by the Sea to send the Flying Dutchman and his ghostriders on their way. I will be out of touch for 3 nights and a bit, but upon my return we will meet at Camerons'. I'll supply the liquor and the Belgian chocolats.
Sincerely,
DT
