You mean it wasn't Russell Means jumping over the rolling soldier on the bank? before he got to the canoes? (Or did I misread your posting.) That explans why Alice isn't seen for a short time there, or she is way off camera range. Thought she flew into the canoe when Chingachgook let go of her arm. Thank you so much, Soldier #2. I have also read that the "smoke" was so thick, canoes kept bumping into each other on the lake...but I'd rather not spoil any more illusions. Guess they could have used the extra light of a full moon.
