: I think it would be fairly safe to assume - based on the knowledge that they definitely did film the Courier Diversion Scene & a Marching Soldier Scene (for the Albany Segment), that DDL's quote on the Musings indicates he thought that the Final Scene would have included at least some of that missing dialogue, that MANY extras have wished that THEIR little bit of fame had made it to the screen, & that scenes of Indians chasing & gathering children as prisoners at Massacre Valley were cut (there are more ... these just popped into my head) - that much of what appears in the script was filmed. Exactly how much, I'm not sure, some was most definitely ommitted before filming began. Knowing what I do about Jodhi May's mother's presence & influence on the set, I would doubt very much if the Uncas/Alice love scene was ever filmed. I have heard - and this is just rumor - that the Hawkeye/Cora love scene was done a bit more explicitly, but the script wouldn't seem to bear that out ... A Director's Cut would certainly be a nice prize for us all!
