: Well, since this horse keeps following my name around, I have spent some time in figuring out where the old fella' could have went on his walkabout...and where did I find him turn up? At the recruitment/lacrosse game scene. The skins, "gear" and "elk carcass" !! also appear (but no mention of a red hatted stranger) along with "Uncas' pack", and "matchcoats" (What are these?)to have been on hand to watch the game. So we know the horse definately got this far.
: And from where is this great information gleamed? From the Call Sheets for the scene posted on this sight!!! (Great reading, by the way!) The only problem, is the call sheet says a mule is packed with them so maybe only the gear, pelts, and elk made it to the games and the horse is still on a walkabout??

Jo,
Since most of us would agree that a horse can not simply turn into a mule, we have a problem. If the pelts, gear, pack, and match coats
(overcoat ... Ongewasgone's got a nice blue one) were strapped to a jack ass, then our horse has once again eluded us. Maybe Ching bet his horse against the mule? In which case, we know Ching lost. I guess our best *bet* is to determine who the gambler (or con man) was that bested Ching. Maybe Mark Twain? This may explain why Twain hated Cooper so much!

The search goes on ....

Elaine
