It's interesting how each of us can see a scene differently, even given the fact that we all adore this film!

I feel that the look in Alice's eyes just before she steps off into the air expresses serenity -- perhaps she's finally really lost it, but she's also finally found the strength and determination to decide her own fate and deny Magua's possession of her. And, to make it all perfect for her, she will be going to join this beautiful and courageous man who risked - and gave - his life for her. In this way, it all came together for her in one moment of clarity and release.
