Several of you have recommended good books to read. For good background material I liked:

Eckert's Wilderness War
Dale Van Every's Forth to the Wilderness
Francis Jenning's Empire of Fortune: Crowns, Colonies and Tribes in the Seven Years War in America (an excellent book!)
