I just heard that today is the 10 year anniversary of Allison's passing.

The Nightbird...as she called or was called was the late night DJ on WNEW FM in NY the rock station that defined all rock stations anywhere, anytime.
She was definiteley one of my favorites, along with the likes of Vin Scelsa , Pete Fornatel and and a host of others that when ever I hear " Arind the Dial " all come to mind !
But Does anyone remember the spacey song Allison would play a lot by the obscure band Lothar and the Hand People? I forgot the exact name of the song but it was sort of like a mediation song about taking a trip outside of your body flying through space and time. Those were the glory days of commercial rock radio...

And let us not forget Zacharley when he was on the late night slot too? When or did he pass away? I liked his show and wacky sense of humor. One night he was getting ready to play an new album that just came out I forgot what it was but that wasn't important, what he did though was...he unwrapped the shrink wrap from the album cover and crinkled it in to the microphone for a few seconds and said one of his classic wacky lines " that was the sound of 2 elephants making love "...that moment has stuck with meuntil this day.
It is the End of the Century..todays commercial rock radio makes me very sad.

Frank either causing or a member of KAOS!
Also Good bye Agent 86 RIP.

Ah ... so sweet of you Frank to remember the Nightbird ... One of my faves was Rosco .... on the go, happily so, for you, you, you and reality ...
By the way, thanks for the e-mail old friend ... good to hear from you again .. as always...

I remember winning tickets to Black Sabbath at the Fillmore from Zacherly ... because I was first to call the station at midnight on Halloween.
I saw Sabbath a few times at the Fillmore, this particular time they were opening for Rod Stewart and Small Faces. Rod and Ron Wood were totally drunk and falling all over the stage ... They couldn't deal with going on after Ozzy and the boys! Many of us were calling out for SABBATH!!! as Rod was slurring through Maggy May ...

Another time I saw Sabbath, I remember you Frank ... telling me how Sir Lord Baltimore was going to blow them off the stage!! he he he
um .... not quite!!!

ok ... that's it for memory lane .... see you all soon ....

Hey Jeff glad to see you and Arthur back on the board here. I wish more would visit this site more often...
Anyway i liked Rosco too, also Scott Muni The Professor who just recently passed away. Zacharley is still alive and kicking I am told...Vin Scelsa another favorite is on WFUV the Fordahm College Station and Satellite radio. Same for Pete Fornetel.

Little Steven's Underground is one of the last best rock shows on regular NY commercial radio airing once a week on Sunday nights where he plays all the really cool and obscure stuff and bands from past and present.

And as for SIR LORD BALTIMORE....I still love them to this day and they are big among the hard core hard rock cult people...i did see them live at the Filmore once and they were freaking rocking and loud and could would have made a great double bill with Sabbath. I still love the early Sabbath stuff..the first and second albums are my favorites...NIB...Litte Bit of Finger, and THE WARNING, I love that song, I played that album as Loud as I could and as often as I could for so long. My brain fried...then it was WAR PIGS, IRON MAN and my favorite off the 2nd album FARIES WEAR BOOTS !!!! I still play that stuff to this day as loud as I can!

I saw Sabbath a few times too, not the show you did with the faces though although I saw The Faces a few times as well. I loved their shows too, it was like an all night drinking party...The Kinks shows during that time were like that too...talk about having fun and living through it????

Jeff ( Arthur too ) I love you guys Keep the memories and stories coming. and that goes for the rest of you too.

Frank
