That is a place I would like to go. My unit, the Pequawket Alliance, is heavily involved with it and has meetings there. But it is a long way for me to drive.

It's kinda "off the beaten path" & not in a "touristy area" - so events are probably not as large as at other places. It's about a two hour drive for me & I live in N.H. It appears money is tight & in some areas it needs a new roof - so there's always a drive on for donations. You can "buy a patch of roof" with a small donation - by placing a sticker on the area you want it applied to. There's a drawing of the roof areas in need in the gift shop at the entrance, which I pick an area every year & add a few bucks. ... Always make a couple of pilgrimages every year. - I've ALWAYS said I intended to make that "Harvest Dinner" in the late Fall ... hopefully this year.

Then you might know Lynn and Buster White, Dave Bayer, the Poissons, Lyle Cubberly and others.

No Fitz, - I don't really "know" anyone that works or volunteers there & have never been to a meeting. The woman working at the counter in the gift shop - is "the definition of pleasant" and with a great sense of humor. Something lacking in many folks today. - I keep thinking about a membership, but it's a two hour drive each way. - Should just send a donation instead.

Fitz - are those folks you mentioned part of a "Pequawket Alliance" unit in THIS area??? - I can't imagine they drive up here from your area for any meetings???

They are all Pequawket Alliance, and all live in New England. Not sure where. For me, New England is a place, north of New York, and close to Canada. The distances don't register as being all that far away from each other. I think of Fort Niagara as not very far from Ticonderoga. I regularly "run up the road" to Fort Dobbs which is just over 2 hours away. Or Martin's Station and Fort Loudoun, which are 3-4 hours away. The Pequawkets have a couple of meetings a year at the Fort at #4.

The Pequawket Alliance had a meeting at the Fort at #4 last May 6, and will have another this fall.
