I agree that's pretty sad. I worked in Spartanburg for many years. It is just a few miles from the Cowpens National Battlefield and there is a statue of Daniel Morgan in the downtown square. Things in that area are named for Morgan and Cowpens. I mentioned I was going to and event there, and a college grad with a masters degree asked me was it a Civil War battle.
But let it be said that I have met people from other countries that really don't know their history. Some native French college grads have been puzzled about questions I asked them concerning their country's history.
But really, it's not so much that they haven't studied history, it's just that they are so unaware of what is around them that it makes you wonder how they get through the day.
