Hi, Steve, and welcome to the Forum!
I like your avatar - I had to choose between British or French for mine; this was one of MY favorites:

But the Francophile in me won out!
Hope to see you as an active participant here. |

In the UK, we say Afrancescados rather than Francophile, at least we did in the early 19th century when we were trying to push Napoleon out of Portugal and Spain!!
Thanks for getting back to me - this seems like a fun forum :)

Welcome, Steve!
Thanks for your message, I really enjoyed your book, i just wish i had discovered all this before the Mohican Gathering with Wes Studi, that must've been awesome.
Having seen every cut i think over every medium possible including the original on the cinema screen on a ferry to France (yes really) through to the latest Blu-ray, Ive recently purchased LOTM on Laserdisc ($4 off ebay!) and borrowed a player from a friend.
What an experience - the Laserdisc version is definitely my favourite.

Steve, I've not seen the Laserdisc version. Is it the original theatrical release or something different?
And welcome to the board!

Yes its the original version with the clannad music, I'm just gutted that it was too wet to run up there when I visited dupont.

I considered buying the laserdisc version on e-bay. Couldn't talk my husband into buying the laserdisc player just so I could watch LOTM. . .some people just don't get it--this obsession!

Thanks so much Diana and the others that have welcomed me.
I have to say that visiting the Mohicans film sites were always an ambition of mine ever since i first saw the film when i was 13 at the cinema.
NC is so beautiful i just wanna go back asap. Unfortunately its a long way from Portsmouth UK!!!
Did anyone else here read Russell Means' book? He's had a really interesting life. |

Yes, Mister Saviola, I fairly recently read Russel Means autobiography--wow, what a book! It's as blunt as Russel is, as you would expect! Very well done, I thought, and it gave me a whole different perspective of Mister Means. Though I'd STILL stay out of his way, were he running towards me with a tomahawke, as we were advised to do as Xtras during the filming of LOTM! But I can understand much better WHY he might be a bit "prickly" at times! I also got and read Dennis Banks autobiography around the same time--a good pair to read together. Very different perspectives from quite different personalities-- but they go well together! |
