Is anyone planning to see Daniel Day Lewis's new movie? I am trying to decide if I want to see it in the theater or wait until it's on dvd.
It will be interesting to hear DDL sing.

I normally don't listen to the critics, as I rarely disagree with them. However, I think I will pass on this one.
Never did like Nicole Kidman, anyway. |

Yeah I too always like to see a movie and judge for myself...I rarely agree with critics. I will watch when it comes out on DVD. Do wonder how Daniel sings though? |

I had planned to go see this in Asheville last weekend, but didn't make it. Will try again tomorrow, IF it hasn't been pulled. Bombing badly. |

I beg to differ--it's doing about as well as many critics predicted (lousy)--one of them stated, "it's not another Chicago." |

My husband took me to see "Nine" on the day after Christmas, as an early birthday treat. I am definitely NOT a fan of the modern-day musical movie genre but was determined to go see "Nine" because of Daniel's starring role.
I greatly admire Daniel for once again venturing out of any "comfort zone" he might have & trying something totally different than anything he's done before - Brava, Daniel!!! And while Guido wasn't a very likable character, Daniel did a nice job with the material he was given & there were moments in the film where Guido made me smile & was quite charming.
To be fair, the majority of those cast in this film are first & foremost actors/actresses who are called upon in this film to sing once or twice. The exception is Fergie & it's no surprise that hers are the strongest vocals in this film.
That said, I am here to tell you that YES, Daniel can sing! I'm not saying he should rush out & release an album/CD or anything of the sort... but he's definitely better than Richard Gere or Johnny Depp!!!
Overall, I would say that if you like musicals, then go see "Nine." If you don't like musicals...go see it anyway, because you definitely won't see any resemblence of "Hawkeye" & it's always a pleasure to watch Daniel in his pursuit of perfecting his work.
And when you go...watch & listen very carefully to the opening scene. Are those Guido's words...or Daniel's???

Thanks for posting that link, Irish. You know what??? I am quite impressed!
Of course, he is no Pavarotti, but he was very adept at handling that song. That is not an easy one to sing. He did it with great vocal agility, and he stayed on tune the entire time. Not only that, he did it with an accent! I found it quite pleasant to listen to.
Job well done on the singing, Daniel! |

My sentiments exactly, WW! We were going to go see it yesterday and it has already left the theaters around here. |

"Can't Live If Living Is Without You" sung by Alice as she gazes down at Uncas's lifeless corpse on the rocks below.
Just before she jumps she looks at Magua and sings "Cold Hearted Snake" LOL
