Just wondering if anyone has seen this movie yet as I am considering going to see it....worth the money or not? Looks good from the previews.

Of course, everything looks good in the previews, when you get right down to it...

I would actually like to see Avatar. But, I don't want to see it in 3D. Not sure why. I guess I am afraid it might make me feel dizzy, or something.

I saw a short program on TV, showing how the cgi were done, and I think it looks pretty amazing.

Every time I hear people commenting about the new Holmes movie, they always say, "It's good . . . for what it is." Not sure what that means . . . so I think I'll wait for Netflix. Not that I ever have a chance to go see a movie nowdays anyway!

I saw Sherlock Holmes. It's not strictly 'traditional', but it sure was fun! It's fast-paced--lots of action, and funny (but not overly so). RDJ and Jude Law were great. I'm already a huge Downey fan, and Law's take on Watson had me cheering!

Bonus creepy-points for Mark Strong (Lord Blackwood).

Last I checked, the DVD is due out in Early May--but I think it'd be worth the ticket price to see it again while it's still in theaters :).

Thanks for the review Pen. Sounds good and now that the hubby actually gets home today I might finally get to see it. Been wanting to see "Daybreakers" too. My son saw it and said it was good. Then there is also "The Lovely Bones" which my daughter said she would treat me to. So many movies, so little time.

Strangely enough, as much a Sci-Fi fan as I am, I have absolutely NO desire to see Avatar. Maybe because James Cameron is such a rotten SOB...

I'll never watch another movie in 3-D. I saw one and ended up with a horrible headache. Personally, I couldn't really tell the difference anyway, other than having to pay an extra four bucks per person...

I finally got to see SH last week at the "not quite new movies" cinema, which only cost $3 to see. It's not too bad, at all, although, as much as I like RDJ, they could definitely have found someone MUCH better to play SH--oh, wait a minute! they did have the perfect candidate right there on the screen: Mark Strong...he's creepy enough to be SH AND he looks like the son of Jeremy Brett (the ultimate Holmes, IMO).

I loved watching that old series with Jeremy Brett as SH. I agree he was the best.

Guess I will see this new SH when it comes out on DVD.

Mark Strong has been in more than one of Guy Ritchie's movies; GR really likes this guy, obviously...sort of like Robert Rodriguez & Danny Trejo.

Well I have the movie so might get to watch this weekend. Never heard of Mark Strong Obes so looked him up on IMDB and he does resemble Jeremy Brett.

Well finally got around to watching the movie last night and I was left with that feeling afterwards of "what a strange movie". Not sure if I liked it or not...think I did. Last time I felt this way was after I watched "Inglorious Basterds". Still not sure if I liked RDJ as "Holmes" but I did like Jude Law as "Watson". The bad guy was good and strange and sinister..definitely weird. Some of the CGI stuff was not great especially the ending scene on the scaffolding over the Thames. Definitely fake looking. Maybe have to give another viewing sometime. Guess it was okay.

Hello All!

I'm sorry I've been away for so long- life got in the way, sometimes in a very bad way and I know you all understand that. Hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying spring! I haven't seen Sherlock Holmes yet, but I want to and I enjoy catching the Jeremy Brett version of Holmes on PBS too. Has anyone seen The Young Victoria too (wasn't Mark Strong a "villain" in this one as well)? I did go to the theater to see that one (great clothes!) And did anyone watch Anne Frank on Sunday night? I admit I never read the books but was she really as spoiled and selfish a brat as they made her out to be?
