Protesting Styles, Left vs. Right...

Everyone here should have heard of Rep. Nancy Pelosi's recent, and now infamous, 'tear-filled eyes' speech concerning her opposition to the alleged 'vitriolic' public tone of the Health Care bill debate. In her 'emotional' diatribe she stated, "I have concerns about some of the language being used because I saw this myself in the late 70s in San Francisco..." And then she followed with, "This kind of rhetoric was...was ...very frightening and it created a climate in which we, violence took place and...I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made, understanding that the ears it is falling on are not as balanced as the person making the statement might assume." All while her eyes teared-up on cue (my therory is that it was her Botox leaking, but I digress ), and her voice 'choked-up' to the appropriate degree.

Why did Rep. Pelosi wait till now to call on America to "curb our enthusiasm", while remaining silent during all of the vitriolic, and downright threatening, dissent which occured through the years of 2001-2008? With all of her now dire warnings of "violence", there has yet to be one criminal arrest at any town hall meeting or 'Tea Party' event, where the actor was on the political Right. As a matter of fact, the only recorded criminal incidents at town hall meetings have been instigated/commited by those on the Left; and usually by union operatives directed to go there, and intimidate anyone with a view that opposes from the DNC agenda (Hey, it worked for Hitler's SA during his rise to power).

A current example would be the conduct of the attendees of the September 12th Washington Tea Party, where D.C Park Police estimates now number the citizens present as over 1.2 million. At that event, where the majority of the attendees could be described as 'Right-Wing', there was not one arrest for criminal conduct. These people used earned vacation time from their jobs, and paid their own way to travel to D.C. Add to that, The Mall was not littered with piles of trash, like it was after Obama's Inaguration in January (heck, knowing the type of folks who are the 'Tea-Party Crowd', they probably left it cleaner than it was when they arrived!)

Now, let us compare that to the protestors here in Pittsburgh during the recent G-20 Summit; and this information comes firsthand, since I was there as part of my own department's Mobile Field Force (Riot Squad). Here, the protestors were of the political Left; mostly groups of Cultural Marxists, Anarchists and Leeches. They were funded by proceeds aquired through previous 'civil rights' lawsuits, and provided educational and legal support by operatives from such Communist front-organizations like the Thomas Merton Center, the ACLU, The Tides Foundation, etc.

The really funny thing about these clowns is that they will decry capitalism and corporations (some of you here know why, it is because they do those evil 'corporationy' things), all while eating food processed/transported and sold by coporations, wearing clothes made/transported and sold by corporations (the 'Goodwill Store' is part of Goodwill Inc.) They piss and moan about unfair treatment of workers, but think nothing of wearing shoes made by child labor in Central America; and even their black bandanas, worn over their faces during their activities, were mostly made by political prisoner labor in China.

The conduct of these protestors are interesting to note. Most were peacibly engaged in authorized marches/assemblies (like the 'Peoples March' sponsored by The Thomas Merton Center on Friday), some were busy with non-destructive acts of civil disobiedence and public nusciance, but others were acting very criminal in nature. Wednesday was mostly a day of probing and minor acts of provication on the part of the protestors, to include making false calls to 911 (so as time and gauge our response) and commiting acts of Criminal Mischief.

On Thursday, we had the 'Battle of Lawrenceville' (as those of us on 'The Job' now call it), where an unauthorized march consisting of members from 'Resist Pittsburgh G-20' (Cultural Marxists) and 'The Black Block' (Anarchists) proceeded down Penn Avenue through the city neighborhood of Lawrenceville, heading for the Convention Center where the G-20 was being held. While transiting this working-class neighborhood, these animals broke windows, shoved trash dumpsters ahead of them down streets at cars and people, and attempted to set several fires from items 'collected' along the way (I say 'attempted', because we quickly put a stop to that jack-assery). As we marched in formation up Penn Avenue, to engage these clowns, it was heartening to see residents standing out on their porches and stoops, cheering us on. One lady yelled to my platoon, "You're not going to let those a**holes mess up our homes, are you?" I replied, "No Ma-am, your police force is here to protect you decent folks from these animals." As we joined our brethern from the city P.D., one of their commanders said to us, "This freak-show stops at 32nd Street! Do you men understand?" Pointing at the row houses along Penn, he added, "These are our people, and we will protect them from those out-of-town dirtbags!" Without going into detail (for obvious legal reasons), we showed these scumbags that this was not London, and that the cops here do not tolerate such behavior.

Friday night ended with the 'Battle of Oakland'; where some of the college students, from the several universities located in the Oakland neighborhood of the city, wanted to finish the summit protests with a 'bang' (as a sidenote, most of the Anarchists arrested over these three days, were non-resident students at these institutions of 'higher learning'; whereas the resident students, who grew-up here, were smart enough to avoid engaging in any illegal activities) They stated on Twitter, Facebook (yep, we had undercover officers posted in those 'e-communities', posing as fellow protestors) and through posted bills around the city, that they were going to 'take over' Schenley Square at 10 PM, and dared the cops to stop them. Once again, that proved to be a big mistake on their part, and they paid for their stupidity, in so many ways... Perhaps these students should ask for a refund from their respective universities, because they obviously have failed to grasp the most basic rules of civilized society

The final bill was over $50,000 in private property damage and almost 200 custodial arrests (Summary citations, which will be mailed to the defendants later, are not factored-in), with the final bill for the Public Works clean-up not yet tallied. Compared to the fiasco in London, during their G-20 Summit, I'd say we (public safety) did a great job keeping things under control, but it still cost more than the 1.2 million 'Right-Wing' protestors did in D.C.

Way to go Sarge and compliments to your law enforcement compatriots! I agree, you folks took stock of the situation and resolved the issues better then either the Paris and London police of recent summits.

Thank you shadawick, your accolades are very much appreciated; but we didn't do it all alone. I also want to share the thanks with the men and women of all of the outside agencies who joined-in and made it a real team effort keeping the criminogenic rent-a-mobs in check. Not only the other Pennsylvania law enforcement/corrections/fire/EMS and National Guard folks, but we also had the top-notch Mobile Field Force/SWAT/K-9 personel from Metro-Dade (FL), Louisville (KY), ILEAS, Chicago (IL), Ohio, New York and other places. I made sure that everyone of those guys I was working with was given my deepest and most sincere thanks, and to let them know if they ever have the misfortune of having their cities host one of these summits, that we will be there for them too.

Also, I would like to give a friendly 'shout-out' to the boys at ALS Technologies, who manufactured all of our less-than-lethal goodies. These include the impressive family of OC and CS gas munitions as well as 12 Gauge and 37/40 MM impact rounds. All of your stuff worked great, and it helped save lives. Thank you again
