I've been looking through the script sections, and I can't find the part in the script where one of the characters says "fight for king and country!" Does anyone know what section of the script that's in?? If anyone that knows could reply by Thursday night, that would be appreciated!
Cheers!

If I knew where it was...I would, but alas, while Lotm is one of my fav movies of all time, I'm not quite sure. Try when the british officers first recruit soldiers and John says he'll keep everyone at his house...I'll go look though. |

LIEUTENANT: [ignoring Hawkeye] Will you men help us stop the French?
HAWKEYE: ... and while they are cooped up in your fort, what if the French send war parties to raid their homes?
IAN: What then, Lieutenant?
LIEUTENANT: For your own homes, for king, for country, that's why you men ought to join this fight!
HAWKEYE: You do what you want with your own scalp. Do not be tellin' us what to do with ours.
LIEUTENANT: [furious; to Hawkeye] You, sir! You call yourself a loyal subject?
HAWKEYE: ... No ... Do not call myself much of a subject at all.

Yes, I'd like to know that, too. Glad to see a "real" Lurking Huron here (hey Rich)!

Thank you all very much!! As for what's going on, you're not missing out on anything big.
In my history class, we are watching LOTM, and we have an assignment that is due on Friday. One of the questions is: How did the settlers feel when asked to "fight for king and country"? Sense of duty for the British soldier and colonial militia had a different meaning. What is the conflict in each of their interpretations of this concept, sense of duty?
So, that's why I needed to know. (By the way, don't be surprised if I ask another question)
Thanks again! |

Ok, have another question here... (I hope you all don't find me to be a bother )
Can you tell me what section in the script I can find the quote: "The white man came and night entered our future with him." - Sachem That is the last question I have, I promise!
I appreciate your help! |

Vixen is right on this one. It took place in the Huron Village scene as the Sachem sits before Magua, Hawkeye, Cora, Alice, and Duncan with Hickory Nut Falls the background. (You ought to see this place up close and in person...absolutely breathtaking!)
